does il2 work on 2 PCs with one disk

Sorry, my original post was too brief. My Dad and I want to play this game connected via a LAN cable. Do we need to have two copies of the program (makes for a $$$ game) or do we load the program on both computers? Will the game run from the HD, do we clone the CD, copy the CD or are we just SOL since the store had only one copy?! Actually, the store (BigBox)told us to copy the CD and then go online and find a keygen (huh?). Seems pretty complex. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Whatever store told you to copy your game and find a keygen online, deserves to be shut down.

That's basically a store employee telling you to pirate a game.

Not sure if Il2 works via LAN without the need for a seperate key. Most games from this period in gaming didn't usually need one.

If the game developer or publisher has offical tech support forums, you can try asking there. I know Lucasarts has one, and I use it all the time for questions regarding their game lineup.
