quote ChoccyScreenshots are already imported initially from Neoseeker once a portal reaches the skeleton stage, so you shouldn't have to worry too much about screenshots unless you just like having a filled out screenshot section for a game. ------------------- ZL: it's been a while since I got any.

re: The Sims NeoWiki |
quote AvalithI completely understand this Avalith but what I generally meant by taking screenshots for one of the Sims games that someone has been assigned to is not only to provide more screenshots for that specific section of the portal but screenshots can also be used for many other things. I have many ideas that can become very useful for the portal, it's image, and how user-friendly it can be to members who visit the portal. Here, let me go into further detail about my ideas so that you and the staff members of this portal can get a general idea of what I am expecting: The best part about using the PrtSc button on a keyboard is that you can take any type of screenshot of a computer played game at anytime you may be playing. Which there are a fair amount of Sims games played on the computer. When taking these screens you can crop them to the size you want, you can crop images out of these screens, or just crop the part of the screen you want to use as a piece of image for your game. Doing this you could show examples of certain features in the game such as clothes, buy mode objects, sim faces, live mode buttons, and many other things. Example If I were to set up the Character Creation topic portion of one of the games that was assigned to me, such as The Sims: Livin' Large it could appear something like this, with the pictures that I cropped from the screenshot I took and the content I did on that game topic: ![]() There are many steps to creating a sim and/or family. First of all you get to choose your sims name, gender, their skin color, age, head, body, and personality. All of these steps must be taken to successfully create your sim or sim family. -- Step One - Name ![]() The first step to creating your sim would be to name it. Every sim needs a name. Names add to how unique, creative, and cool a sim is. A sim with a name is always better than one without. When making up names for a sim think up something creative because this will be their name forever. When creating a sim family, you are required to make a last name and first name for that sim. Last names will separate sim families into their own, so that other family do not get mixed up with them. -- Step Two - Gender ![]() The second step to creating a sim is choosing it’s gender. In each sim game there is a choice of your sim being a male or female. So simply, if you want your character to be a male you would click on the male gender option while if you wanted your character to be a female you would click the female gender option. -- Step Three - Skin Color ![]() The third step to creating a sim is choosing your sim’s skin color. There are three choices to choose from, a light skin tone, a tan skin tone, and a dark skin tone. The light skin tone would usually be chosen if you wanted your sim to look Caucasian, the tan would be used to make your sim look Mexican or Asian, and the dark skin would be used to make your sim look African-American. -- Step Four - Age ![]() The fourth step to creating a sim is choosing what age it is. There are only two stages of age to choose from for your sim to be. These chooses are, ether an adult or child. And if your only going to have a household consisting of one sim, the sim must be an adult. If the household would have more than one sim, the adult would be the parent and then that would enable you to put another sim’s age as a child. There is another stage of age that you can see while playing the Sims game but when making a sim you cannot let it start out at this age, this age is the baby stage. When one of your sims has a child, the child starts out as a baby and then moves to the child stage and so on. Adults also have an advantage over children, they can get a job while children can’t. So when making your sim put this into consideration. Child ![]() Adult ![]() -- Step Five - Head ![]() The fifth step of creating a sim is choosing what it will look like. There are two different ways to changing what your sim looks like, these being their head and body. There are many different types of heads to choose from, for ether a female or male sim character. Each head looks different and unique in it’s own way. Look through the many different heads to pick one that will make your sim look like what you wish it to. The many selections of heads for your sim are just another great feature to help you out while creating your sim. -- Step Six - Body ![]() The sixth step of creating a sim is choosing the other portion of what it will look like, this being it’s body. Just like with the head selection of the character creation the body has many different types. These many types of body include formal wear, everyday wear, and costume bodies. There is a wide variety of bodies to select and choose for your sim. The body is an important feature to use while creating your sim. -- Step Seven - Personality ![]() The seventh step of creating a sim is choosing the sim’s personality. There are six different categories that play a part in the personality of your sim. These include: Neat, Outgoing, Active, Playful, and Nice. The amount of points you give to each category determines which of part your sim’s personality will be like. Neat: The more points you give to this category the more likely your sim will be neat. They will be more attentive when doing common household things such as flushing the toilet, putting books back after reading, throwing food away after eating it, etc. The less points you give to this category will make your sim more messy. They will tend to do the opposite of flushing the toilet, putting books back, throwing food away, etc. Outgoing: The more points you give to this category the more likely your sim is to be interactive and outgoing to other sims. Sims with a lot of outgoing points are always very social and are good at making friends. This is the opposite for sims who are more shy than outgoing, and this can happen when they don’t have many points in this category. Active: The more points you give to this category the more active and healthy your sim will be. Sims with more active points than others usually enjoy exercising more and staying in fit shape. They also tend to have high body skills. Sims with less points in the active category are more lazy and like to just sit around and not exercise. Playful: The more points you give to this category the more playful and funny a sim will be. They tend to laugh a lot and enjoy other sims jokes. Sims with high playful points also are easy to get a long with and are just carefree, taking life one step at a time. While, sims with less playful points tend to be very serious about things. They not only aren’t too friendly with jokes and all but they also take their life, their job, and other things very seriously. Nice: The more points you give to this category the more nice and friendly a sim will be. Sims with high points to their nice category are always very friendly and overall just nice to other sims. Other sims really enjoy talking to these type of sims. But sims with low points in the nice category tend to be mean and not so friendly to other sims. ----- Obviously based on everything shown above the whole idea of cropping little features from the screenshots to show certain things in the game could become time consuming but doing so would really make the portal more user-friendly, decorative, and organized. The above example is just an idea of how the portal could look and with what we could do with the portal it wouldn't appear this plain and disorganized as the post shows, it's nothing definite of course. I just think that if we used our skills and cropped images and such to place next to our text content on a game it would really make everything even nice and easier to imagian of the game, etc. The above example is also just a rough copy of what it could look like on the site. Also, if some members do not have a workshop or such that can re-size, crop, and such to an image I could do that for others if necessary, the member who would like me to do this would obviously need to give me a detailed description of what all they would like me to crop out of that image, etc. Also this idea could help a portal to show an actual example of what something looks like in a game. In the Animal Crossing Portal I noticed a portion of the portal that this idea would really help out this portion being the Animal Island part. In this part it tells which islander could possibly be living on the island as shown below: quoteWhat would really help this would be if there were pictures of these individual characters so that members who read this portion of the portal would get an even better look of the island and it's characters. The images would also show how exotic this other characters look like, etc and this could possibly make members even more excited to unlock the Animal Island part of the game. Cropping images from screenshots to show examples and such is good and all but this could also be helpful for making a layout for the portal and such, such as in the Animal Crossing Portal they have some of their characters appearing at the tops of many of the different topic ideas that link members to other parts of the site, etc. Overall I just think my idea would really help the portal and if members could simply just make their screenshots or search for them they could also crop images from them to help the portal as what's suggested above. Hopefully this won't become to chaotic, and as time goes by I think this would all do the portal much good. But please note, before members actual start doing this they should first have their content finished, then they could move to actually finding screens and then finally, they could crop them for certain images to show examples and such for their game. What do you guys think? Smart idea or what? Note: The above content that I added in with the cropped screenshots is my individual work for the Sims Livin' Large game so do not plagiarize it or use it in anyway unless you ask and the circumstances are appropriate to what I would accept. -------------------

I do not mind if you use the above screenshot pieces but I wouldn't suggest you use them because of the quality and how I simply just used them as an example and took them from a screenshot I found from google, which wouldn't be too good to use overall. But if you need I could take a screen myself and then cut each individual part out and PM them to you, I have nothing else to do besides doing my homework and being sick. =\ It would be no problem at all. What do you think Choccy? Also, how is everyone doing with their game content? I need a current update on everything. I plan to request the dummy portal very soon. -------------------
