Unusual iPod Problem--Please Help!

A few minutes ago, I tried to download some songs into my iPod nano. It's my first time, so I'm unsure of what's supposed to happen and what isn't.

Anyway, when I finished charging my iPod, and I went through all the starting stuff, I went to put songs into my iPod from the Library. We already had two albums in there: Nimrod (Green Day) and Mmhmm (Relient K), plus some McDNav crap with a few seconds of dialog. All of them had a check mark next to them, but I thought nothing of it. I dragged and dropped one song from the Library into my iPod, but I ended up with everything in the Library, including the McDNav stuff. The weird part is that my iPod didn't load or anything; I just dragged and dropped a song, I the whole Library automatically transferred to my iPod.

What did I do wrong? Did I get everything in the Library because there was a check mark next to each item? How can I erase the songs I don't want? And how do I get rid of the McDNav audio? Please help!
