1GB iPod Shuffle Problem

I have an iPod shuffle that I use for running (its not my primary mp3 player, I only use it for the gym) and lately when i press any of the buttons at the front, a green and orange light alternate and nothing else happens(no music, no nothin). It has battery, and has not sustained any damage that could have caused this.
I have had it for about a year, and it has never had the slightest problem.
Anyone have a solution to this?
