You cant install iTunes without losing your data if your iPod is set to an automatic update.

What you could do is open my computer open your iPod and click on tools at the top of the explorer click on the bottom one (I think its called options?) and click on the thing that lets you see hidden files.

You should then be able to find your music files on your iPod in files named things like F01 or something to that effect. Theyll be named things like GHSOM1. (be sure to check all 50 folders because their kinda placed at random i think.

Copy these onto your computer THEN add the files using iTunes. If you add the files straight from you iPod it wont import them properly and youll lose all your data.

IMPORTANT: Do Not Open iTunes Untill youve copied ALL of the files because youll lose you songs
