We all knew it was coming. Final Fantasy V is confirmed for iOS and Android devices, at least in Japan. Given that the previous four games also went mobile, this comes as a surprise to no one.
So anyway, the version we'll be seeing on smartphones and tablets will be a remake based on the GameBoy Advance version, not the original 1992 one, complete with redesigned sprites and all that updated goodness. Japanese arrival times are by the end of March for iOS, and summer for Android. As of now, there's no release date for North America or anywhere else in the Western world. Previously, the Final Fantasy mobile re-releases have shared dates worldwide, however.
If you're looking to buy, the Japanese version will be ¥1,800 -- which is roughly $19. Yeah, seems about right for Square.
