Screen Replaced, No Power

Hey, I have (more like had...) an iPhone 2G. The screen was also cracked and I needed to replace it. Well, I bought the part and let's just say that replacing the screen is a bit complicated. If the iPhone 2G has never been opened, you'll spend quite a bit of time trying to remove the aluminum back. It's almost like it's goddamn glued in there.

Second, and be glad I can warn you, the batter in the iPhone 2G is glued, and for some VERY strange reason it can actually break in half. The iFixit.com guide said to remove it VERY slowly, which I did, however, there was a part where it was seriously glued and I had to apply a bit of pressure, much to my surprise the damn battery bent in half and well, let's just say it no longer works...

Now I need to buy a new battery. So, with that said, I can tell you that replacing the LCD can be cheaper, but if you've never opened a device before, then you might want to reconsider. I've opened plenty of devices in the past, but this one was complicated despite having the right tools.

As for the LCD, you need to get it with the Digitizer and the LCD already glued together for you. This piece can range anywhere from $60 to $100+. If you want to make your life easier, you can of course buy the middle chasis, but that requires you to put in more money.

This is what the LCD and Digitizer together look like. That's what you need if you want to replace the LCD. I also suggest you buy some adhesives for the LCD just in case the original adhesive doesn't stick too well.

Oh well, but yes what you linked is what you'll need. I also suggest you look at replacement videos on YouTube so you KNOW what you're getting yourself into. It may look easy when they do it, but it could be complicated. Specially if they're using devices that they've opened before, which they probably are to make a smooth video.

Now that I have the iPod itself, I want to jailbreak it. The only problem is that QuickPwn isn't starting up for me. All I'm getting is a generic "Windows have encountered a problem" screen at startup. I'm running the 2.2.1 Firmware, and I'm using the latest version iTunes. I'm using Windows 7. It's not working on my other computer either, which is running XP. Any idea what the problem could be?

I was able to update to 3.1 and use Spirit to jailbreak it. Thanks for the help anyway.
