[Problem] iPod Nano White Screen

My iPod was plugged in tonight, charging through my laptop when a certain someone shut my laptop putting it into sleep mode without ejecting the iPod through iTunes and now all I have is a white screen and am getting no response from the iPod and when I plug it in iTunes doesn't recognize it and when I go to the drive it's plugged into and click on it, it freezes up with an hourglass, so it's not even like I can reformat it.

Any one know what's up with this? Even when I turn it off I can't make the white screen go away and I am sure I am blowing out the screen as we speak. Is this a job for the Apple Store or is this fixable from home?

Hmm - well I just got it for Christmas, but I don't think I ever had any of the paper work for it. There is an Apple Store in the mall near my work, maybe I will swing by there and see if they can do anything with it.

Try Resetting the iPod to see if that does anything. To Reset, press and hold the Menu and center buttons for about 6 seconds. If it works, the iPod should shut off then restart a few seconds later. Alternately, if you can unplug the iPod from your PC let it sit around a while until the battery completely drains. That might take patience you may not have, that can take anywhere from a couple hours to a couple weeks.

As far as warranty goes, I think new iPods come with a 1 year limited warranty as long as you registered it (should've done that the first time you connected it to iTunes), so while this might not be covered (could fall under negligence and not faulty workmanship), it's worth a try.

Maybe try plugging it in again and see if it's fixed then. Since it should have forced the unit to shut off and restart that could take care of it.

Yeah, I had unplugged it from the computer because I wanted the battery to die. That white screen on all night drained the battery REAL fast. I left it for the day to kind of reset itself. When I got home last night I turned it on and it came up like normal. I plugged it in and iTunes recognized it again.

So it must have just needed a little reboot of sorts.
