[Question] In regards to hub pages
|
I have started to bulk out the Elder Scrolls Neowiki vby adding in the rest of the games for the series, however after researching through Neoseeker it seems not all the games within the series are there or don't have a forum on Neoseeker.
That just means they won't have a Neotab at the top and unfortunately giving the games a forum just for this wouldn't be gaining anything as one of the games that is a spin-off has a forum and it's pretty much dead/naked due to being a 1998 game.
Anyway the major problem is that some platform forums have certain game forums and others do not. To make it easier I will list what we have got and not got.
PC
- The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard (Got
- The Elder Scrolls: Battlespire (missing)
- The Elder Scrolls I: Arena (Missing)
- The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (Missing)
- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY (missing, however it is split up between the three above)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of The Nine (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY (missing but split up between the three above)
Xbox
- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY (Got)
Xbox 360
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of The Nine (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY (missing but split up between the three above)
PS3
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Got)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles (missing)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of The Nine (missing)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY (missing )
N-gage/Mobile
- The Elder Scrolls Travels: Dawnstar (missing)
- The Elder Scrolls Travels: Stormhold (missing)
- The Elder Scrolls Travels: Shadow Key (got)
Sorry for that but it helps me to explain things a little better. Now as you may have noticed, the expansions to both games across all but PS3 and Xbox have separate forums, whereas the GOTY forum doesn't exist.
Which is understandable as they are practically the same thing just GOTY combines them together.
However PS3 has neither and creating hub pages may pose a problem
So what would be the best way around it? To create the hub pages as I have listed above, all individual like they are separate games or shall I just make GOTY hub pages and make the expansions as redirects to the GOTY pages?
The problem with this is that I have made a Morrowind GOTY hub page because it was there for the Xbox version but because the PC version doesn't behave like that then that means creating a Bloodmoon and a Tribunal hub page.
An official word on how to go about this would be great and no I haven't edited the hub page section on the main page yet

I think special editions of games should not have a fully dedicated wiki page, maybe just a brief blurb explaining how it differs from the main game and then linking back to the real page of the game.
For all the missing titles submit them to CRS and PM Wolfie to get them added ASAP. I think that's the best way to do it. Not sure if anyone else has any ideas.

well after debating the ideas of which way it could go, the best I can come up with that should keep it all flowing nicely is to create the GOTY edition pages and have headings with descriptions underneath for the original game then the expansions included.
Then at the top of the same page, have the separate neotabs for the forums or even with the descriptions. Instead of contionously editing to show, I will printscreen and put it up here to show you what I mean, however at the moment I have to remove the infobox as it interferes with the current idea (hence why not continously editing to link you to it.
I know I am being bold but I feel it will also bring that uniqueness that others are looking for in Neowiki's and if I can somehow get rid of the white space that the infobox creates or have the ability to place it anywhere on the page such as the top centre then my idea would look better.
However I will leave it down to you as this is the point of bringing the subject up here.

However, yes your suggestion is probably the best, I just like to be difficult and as always diverse as possible

I've submitted all eleven of the missing profiles, we just need Wolfwood to create them.

Just an observation, but your plot summaries look more like advertising than summaries. :/

I have found a way of moving the infobox without harming it and shall be keeping the page as it is for a proper view of how it looks. Again if it isn't liked then I can change it
and thanks Aspect, was eventually going to get around to it after I had fiddled with things
anyway http://elderscrolls.neoseeker.com/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls_III:_Morrowind_G.O.T.Y. is the finished article I have been jabbering on about
@Ghost: Yes I have noticed this myself after looking at other Neowiki's but that is also why the hub pages aren't taken off "pages that need work" I am simply getting "some information" in while messing with layouts, once a final layout for the hub pages is selected it will be fleshed out. Then again I was also worried about spoilers and completely forgot about the spoiler warning template
