As u may know, this game is based off of the second anime which is based off the third book in the VHD series. Demon Death Chase.

What I want to know is, did the game refer to the novel for the extra story that wasnt in the anime?

As far as I understand the writer wrote all his stories and later made some of them into films, must of his work is still in book form and can be found as short stories.

Yeah but what I mean is, like the mer-men in the game, those are mentioned in the book, but they are actually in the game. The Blood pills in this game are in the books too.

I just read the book a few weeks ago, and Carmeila isnt even in the book! They never go to a vampiric castle.

Ive read the first novel and seen both of the films. and for some reason im hardly surprised. The movies hardly pay attention to the original story. For example rei-gensei from the book and "ragancy" from the movie are like to completely different characters.In the book he has black long hair has a smile no man or woman can resist and he is a behemoth hunter. In the movie he has WHITE hair. he his a vampire hunter(that works for a vampire). and when he smiles he just looks insane. The only similarity is that he wishes to become a vampire and he uses shriek blades. i enjoyed the first book very much and i am going to read more most likily

yes, i remember in the book Kikuchi described him looking like an "Asian Appolo". He wore all black with 3 shriek blades on his belt. I think he put combat armor on one his arms too.

The first anime was a lot different, but the second one stays pretty close. Execept for the third act. The way D looked was pretty much exact but he didnt have a scarf.

I read this book a while ago. It was interesting, much different than the movie VHD: Bloodlust.
