If you want to beat him without Super Sonic, you should get a charactor that is fast. I say Sonic for starters.

Here's a tip. Dodge until you roll. When you do that you can break up to 4 barriers! I hope that helped.

I beat him easily using both Sonic and Knuckles. All you have to do is avoid his grab & throw moves and keep attacking him. Use strong attacks to break his barrier and leave him defenseless.

If he shoots a beam at you, consider yourself dead. Also, to get Super Sonic, win every single round without losing until you get to the second round against Metal Sonic. Go hyper to transform into Super Sonic.

the way i do it? persistence.

its easy if you know how use spindash and shields till he has no more schields then upercut jabs and whatever

Play as Knuckles. Dodge, Punch, kick, repeat
