Prince of Persia: The Verdict

Now this is the thread to compare the Sands of Time trilogy of the Prince of Persia to each other. For those of you who don't know what I mean, the games I'm talking about are:
Sands of Time (SOT)
Warrior Within (WW)
The Two Thrones (TTT)

I'll get the ball rolling.
I enjoyed WW more in some ways than TTT - there was a higher emphasis on weapons and fighting, with a larger variety of secondary weapons and a welcome change between Primary weapons from time to time.
The lack of Dahaka chases in TTT eliminated the feeling of risk and suspense throughout the game - you never knew when that bastard was going to show up and make you run like hell. And hearing his footsteps behind you, the controller vibrating...no wonder the Prince was afraid.
What really disappointed me, however - call me gory if you will - was the compelte lack of disembowelment! I've heard that the US version gets all the body slashing, head chopping and blood spurting action as WW, but us Europeans had to make do with various different ways of enemies falling over! Come on, people! The disembowellment is what made the kills so satisfying!
TTT lacked plot twists, such as the Sandwraith and Kaileena, although the initial plot was suitable and easy enough to understand, filling all the holes.
I preferred the modern kind of music in WW, which was fast paced with the guitar and yet suitable for the situations it was used in. The Arabic music in TTT was less to my taste, I have to admit.
The game was longer, and the replay value was better thanks to the alternate ending. What stopped TTT following suit?
Something TTT redeemed itself in, however, was the Speed Kills. Easy to pull off with spectacular results, they were pretty good. Also the Dark Prince was a welcome change with more powerful attacks. The continuous skitzophrenic conversations were pretty funny at times as well, and it made dealing with bosses easier as the Dark Prince could help you out. Finally, the Dark Prince could give his verdict after you dispatched a few enemies, which made impressing him a kind of target for you.
Don't get me wrong, TTT was a great game - I'd just prefer WW.

i agree, WW was more gory, and TTT is more like SOT music wise and some what fighting, WW had a lot of interesting battle tacticts and atmospheres, it seemed much longer than the others. The dahaka chase was cool too, i ended up downloading the songs by godsmack because i got them stuck in my head.

re: Prince of Persia: The Verdict

I cried when I read people talking about gory killings in T2T only to not have any of that stuff when I played it (I live in England). I also prefer WW simply for its combat and paranoia–inducing thrill, that sense of the Dahaka looming creating a palpable feeling of dread. The story rocked, an’all! However, I hated his character. Cynical, all fake ‘cool’ bad–arsed attitude. Bleh. I like him best in SoT. But I prefer all the platforming and environmental beauty in T2T. I loved the WW music but much prefer the authentically Arabian–sounding music in T2T. I love them all in their own special ways
