I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread for you guys to put your ideas across for the forum. I have never done this in my forums before but it seems to work elsewhere, so why not give it a try?

So you can post here anything you want in the forum, or suggestions for improving it etc. I won't be able to please everybody but if you don't ask, you don't get.

As far as things that are needed, I dunno. It seems the forums pretty good. No real room for improvement.

Images for the peripherals in the Fact Sheet thread. Dunno, would just make it seem a bit better and more informative.


You could steal the code from the Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition [PS2] forum so when you go over a link it fades in and out. That looks cool - and if it's possible, have it in all the threads too. But I dunno how good you are with the coding for that, you may need to ask around for the codes.

I can definitely add some images for the peripherals in the fact sheet thread. I was holding off from changing anything that Vandal created while I was temping as I was unsure of his situation. But now I have got the permanent position I can do that no problem.

I will also look into that link code. I'm not sure if it will suit the forum, but I'll give it a go.

I dont know if this is necesarry, but a sticky(not necesarily) thread where you for example get the information you need to fix "the red ring of death". where members can ask questins about problems they have with thei're 360, for example: asking why thei're 360 isn't starting properly, red lights(red ring of death) overheating and other problems like that.

since there are alot of threads thats name stuff like this:
"OMFG! it overheated!" "red ring of death! it's gonna die!"
filling up the forum I think a thread like the mentioned above would be a good idea, but its up to the moderators to decide.

and about the text fading in and out-stuff you other guys mentioned would be cool.

I will consider that definitely. The only concern I have about having too many threads for individual purposes, is that it can choke the forum activity. Ages ago I used to think very much the other way around. I would make sure there was one thread for screenshots, one thread for information, one thread for problems etc. I quickly found out that it massively reduced the activity of the forum. Not just for ppd but for the fact that almost every post was contained within about 5 threads.

Now this can work with certain topics but as there are "unfortunately" a variety of problems which could occur with a 360, it would be difficult to keep them all into one thread and not have people talking over other people's conversations. But I will take it into consideration. I hope that all makes sense

Too many stickies. Remove some of them that really don't need to be stickied like the Official "I have teh 3six0rz!!" Thread and the Fact Sheet!

Have the Release Dates thread unstickied and made into a link somewhere on the header. No offence but looking at it all of the info is wrong and most of it is just discussion. That or make a new thread closed to replies with correct info.

Besides the stickies, as DBZ mentioned, I think you're doing a bang up job Steel. But I'm easily pleased.

Thanks mate. I have always thought that there are too many stickies myself. But as I said above, up until recently I didn't want to remove anything Vandal did because I didn't know the situation.

I will drop a couple of stickies tomorrow and probably add links to the top of the forum for the useful ones. But I have to go to bed now, I'm up in 6 hours

Maybe an image of the 360's green spirally logo thing in the background that follows the page down. Perhaps just the bottom-left corner of the logo stuck in the top-right and made faint. I could whip up the image in mind if you want. But I dunno. I just think the forum needs more of a 360 theme. At the moment it looks like any other forum.


An uber-Flash banner would be cool too. Like the General Wii and GameCube forum has. Obviously you'd need someone to whip that up. It would take a while. But would look cool. If you ever decide to however we should go into detail on how we want it to look.

I like your banner HBK, well done. Also your idea is good Incidnia. I think it needs to look more unique and "360 ish" as well. Problem is I am crap at digital art. So I might run something along the lines of a banner comp soon. I really like the current one but it is old now I admit.

Also a background for the forum might be ok, but it can also look dodgy. It would have to be something extremely light to not look irritating. I will search around but I doubt I'll find anything that would suit.

Yeah. Well if you take a look at the General Wii and Gamecube forums they have flash animated banners. There are several members on this site who are very skilled at flash and might be able to crop something awesome up.

Feedback: Two thumbs up at the forum background, man. It's simple, but it adds a ton of life to the forum.

Suggestion: Someone contribute an Xbox 360 profile pic that has a background color the same as the forum's background color. I suck with graphics and would end up butchering the pic, otherwise I'd give it a shot.
