Consoles have never been superior to their PC equivalent. I have no idea where you got that from. 360 having only 512mb of memory really shows when you're playing online. The lack of "oomph" from the 360 specs can't handle modern games well. The lag you get in some games like minecraft is just terrible, despite minecraft graphics on the 360 tuned down a lot compared to the default PC settings.

Even when the PS3 and 360 were new, they were only just par with mid-high end PCs of the day. They were never superior.

Always online would probably mean just that. You have to be connected to the internet to play games, or else it'll disconnect from xbox live and at the same time, cut the game you're playing.

Crusad3r, consoles dont have a need to be superior to computers. When you play a PC game, you need a higher end system because you have to run a ton of background tasks, plus the game isnt designed for that specific hardware so it has to consume more resources than the console equivalent to run. You can play any game on the xbox 360 with just 512mb of ram with no problems, but if you tried that with a computer, you couldnt even run windows properly. Same with the processor. Games arent even that processor heavy so you dont need an insane processor to run them, especially when the game has been specificly designed for that processor. If you built a computer to the exact specs, or at least as close as you could get, to the 360 and ran the same games on it, the 360 would beat it out every time.


As for the rumors, both online only and blocking of used games are both deal breakers to me. What the hell is the point in having an always online console? Piracy isnt as big of a problem as it is on PC's (and even then, if people are going to pirate, they will find a way around the always online). Then blocking of used games; I dont buy used too often, but I would like the option to buy used or sell my games when I want. Plus, wouldn't that pretty much kill gamestop?


I've been tempted to switch over to PC gaming, but all my friends have consoles so thats the main reason I've stayed with consoles.

Regardless, if there really is a "No Used Game" feature then you can bet that the consoles won't sell well. Why? Because aside from Wal-Mart, name me someplace you can buy a video game console that would be willing to accept the loss of used game sales. Not many come to mind do they? Retailers won't sell anything that will kill their business.

I took you seriously before the kiddy meme & that completely wrong statement. You can barely run Windows XP with 512mb of RAM. Definitely can't play Black Ops 2 on that same machine. Spec for spec, consoles are superior at gaming with less. More efficient. Its nothing new.

Hopefully by the time it's released they'll up the specs a bit, cut down the cores to 4 (at this point, I don't know a single 8 core processor for PCs on the market that actually works well - no point using technology that hasn't been perfected yet), increase the frequency to maybe 3.4ghz or higher (seriously? 1.6ghz? what are we in, 2001?), up the caches a little bit and get a 900mhz or higher GPU.

Assuming the rumors are true about them focusing on multitasking I have feeling they're planning on dedicating half of those to background tasks and things of that nature, thats the only use I can think of for that many at least. They might have cold feet from the RROD fiasco so the low clocked CPU might be an attempt to keep heat down, since most AMD CPUs do use quite a bit of power and if its their Jaguar architecture being a mobile chip it'll run much cooler than an FX chip for that many cores.

Also I think the PS3's inicial price is proof of why they can't match high end PCs. Most people won't pay that kind of money for a console there are already people complaining about the Wii U's price being too high.

Anyway, locking out used games completely is crossing the line, not even PCs have done that yet. Yes most PC sales are digital but the option is still there and what happens in the future when you can't buy new Xbox game?

This is great news for developers that used games are going to be blocked, I hope there is some legitimate truth to this. And I pray that the cost to receive an unlock code is more than what Gamestop is asking to buy the game, that way you will have no choice but to purchase new. Sick of the "i deserve the discounted price" mentality that everyone has, these games aren't free to develop and when you only buy used all your money goes into Gamestops pockets. Put the money back where it belongs so we can keep the great games coming.
