hardware problems RCA 55" LED lag problems

Hi there,
I just bought an RCA 55" LED tv Full HD 1080 (doesn't say i or p) it says under resolution 1920x1090. On the side of box it says response time is 8ms refresh rate is 120hz. Its capable to connect to HDMI.

I have it connected to my xbox using an HDMI cord, running straight from the Xbox 360 to the tv in the HDMI 1 spot.

Have been playing the new Forza Horizon game, and everything is fine, but when I play Halo 4 and COD: Black Ops, it experiences a lag of about 2 seconds. This has become extremely frustrating, as I bought this TV today and bought it specifically to play the new Halo and Forza, and now it is lagging. I have picked through different threads on google to find some answer, and some say to change Game Mode to On... I have read the owners manual and gone to the Menu on the TV and found no settings or anything to change that mode, or to change the input mode. I have checked that my output for my Xbox is for 1080p.

Another answer was that I should buy VGA cables, will this do anything?

What is wrong, and what can I do to fix it? Its become unplayable, and for two games I really enjoy playing, it feels like a waste for a brand new tv.

I would do that, however I've already been through that. Yesterday I went to Walmart and bought a 50" Emerson LCD tv, and when I got it home it didn't have a remote, had huge scratches on the back, and it didn't have the piece to connect the tv to the base, so it had obviously been opened and picked through and returned. So when I brought it back, Walmart didn't have any other tvs in the same size for the same price, so they gave me a bigger Phillips TV. That TV had problems, so we brought it back last night, and they gave us this 55" tv. It was a very long, all day process to end up with this tv that is having problems playing these games. Its an amazing tv, and will connect to my laptop with HDMI and play movie no problem, its only when playing Black Ops and halo 4 that it has the lag.

Yes, it does feel like that. We thought that RCA would be a good brand as well. I have looked around on google, and like I said it seems most people are saying that it could be because the TV is having to upconvert the picture from the xbox and it just can't render the image fast enough for the response time from the player. Some people are saying VGA cords will help, or switching the TV to Game Mode. My tv doesn't have game mode, so I'm wondering if the VGA cables will work? I've also seen other responses saying the cables didn't make a difference. I'm not taking this tv back after the experience I already had with Walmart, especially if its a problem with the xbox/tv, not the actual tv itself. I'm just worried I'm going to have to buy a newer xbox, or live with the lag, which I don't see happening. My boyfriend is big into gaming, and our house is the place to come and game, so this is a pretty big issue!!

Yes, We were wanting a good brand like Sony, but we searched around many places here and Walmart had the best deals on TVs, although now I'm starting to see why! We were going mainly on price first, and then by brand. We were very happy when we got home with the original 50inch Emerson, it wasn't until we found half of the box missing that we had to return it. We ended up getting an RCA 55" LED tv for $548, which is a pretty good deal.

The xbox I believe is 3, maybe 4 years old. It is my boyfriends, so I`m not 100% sure on that. Its using a brand new HDMI cord, I think we bought it 6 months ago maybe. It could be the video card, I will get my boyfriend to look at that when I get home. I went to console settings, and went to HDTV settings, and I set it on 1080p, would setting it to 1080i make a difference?

On a thread somewhere i read that it could be because the TV can't render the image fast enough, but I don't see why it would work on Forza Horizon, which is a new game, but wouldn't work on Halo 4 which is also a new game, and on Black Ops.

I will try setting the Xbox to 720 and see if that works. I have read about input and output lag a bit, but I couldn't find anything on input/output on the TV's menu or in the Owner's Manual about it. Is there something I'm missing? I even went into the Locked section of the TV's menu, and through each setting. I'm not sure how to change the input method on the tv, and I poked around a bit on Google and couldn't find much help.

It's definitely not us being picky. It is a delay of 2 seconds, which as I'm sure you know, can be extremely frustrating when playing games like COD or Halo, where two seconds could mean staying alive in the game.

games like Halo and COD have a lot more going on than a racing game does, so that could be why. it might be struggling to process and output the video fast enough at such a high resolution. might also be due to framerate, running on a 120Hz set. does it have an option to change it to 60Hz? 360 games dont run any higher than 60 fps, so the TV might be refreshing too fast and its confusing itself.
