4J Studios, the studio responsible for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft, has confirmed the title has achieved the four million units sold milestone.

The studio expressed their delight by saying the aforementioned figure is an "Incredible number", and also thanked fans for the impressive achievement. Minecraft creator Mojang had said during the latter stages of August that Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition sold 3.6 million units since its release in May; racking up 1.4 million sales several months after the game's launch is certainly a commendable feat.

The Xbox 360 version of the sandbox-building title broke Xbox LIVE Arcade records upon its launch by selling over 400,000 copies on launch day, which was followed by over a million copies sold within five days. As for daily sales for the game, at least 17,000 copies of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition are being bought every day.

4J Studios also gave an update for the forthcoming 1.8.2 patch; it's due to be sent to Microsoft Certification, with the usual process taking a week or two. The update itself introduces a Creative Mode, as well as features such as Strongholds, Abandoned Mineshafts, new food, the hunger mechanic and more.
