Fine but make no mistake, this is not a mindless system bashing. This is a comparison of benefits from someone who's still actively using BOTH systems (my Gamercard is constantly updated with recently played games) and comparing which one gives more bang for their buck. Nobody is accusing you of lying, but just because you don't experience lag on PSN doesn't mean nobody else does. The fact is MS has a lot more servers to handle online play than Sony does simply because they have a lot more money to throw around. I have only played Fat Princess online on PSN and IIRC it ran fine sometimes and slow other times. Xbox games also lag occasionally too though, so...

again youre speaking from your experiences, not from everyone else's. i generally dont have connection issues on Live unless im playing with someone on the other side of the world or their upload speed is slower than dial-up.

unfortunately MS just doesnt give anything away for free. its the sad truth and it sucks but meh. even though it feels like siding with the "Dark Side" at times, i dont know...color me stubborn i guess.

i will say i personally think the Xbox controller is 100x better than the PS3's so i guess that factors into it too.

Having owned both consoles, and played both online a lot. 360 wins hands down. You may not get that much for your £5 a month but that small fee keeps 90% of idiot kids/laggy people/retards from ever playing in the same game as you.

And the PS3 has no physical reason to lag more online, it's just free to play WILL attract people with 3rd world connections, thats where this whole ps3 lag thing comes from. (And having played many hours of shooters on both, ps3 is DEFINATELY home to more shit hosts.)

Don't think i'm hating on ps3 btw, it's a great console. but the online portion is terrible compared to the xbox. And anybody who has a problem with that statement, tell me more about how you think £5 a month is a ripoff.

I would've agreed if it wasn't for the fact that one of XBL users' biggest complaints IS having a bunch of little kids playing Halo/Call of Duty/etc. Hell one MIGHT even say that there's more kids/shit-talkers on the 360 because it's more popular thanks to the big shooters on the system. Absolutely. Coincidentally enough it doesn't. I mean if Battlefield: Bad Company 2 online sucked in both systems, I'd be inclined to bet that it was EA's OWN servers? Unless people would like to say that Microsoft's supposed "exclusive" servers crapped out in BC2's first MONTHS? I sold my copy because I seriously could not stand the lag/disconnect streak. Then I bought the PS3 version and HOLY SHIT! SAME EXACT lag and disconnections! $50 down the drain because they both had the same *bleep*ing issues, well shit.

It's a rip off. Though I'm pretty sure I've pointed it out about a dozen times before now...what with free games, exclusives, discounts, yadda yadda yadda...you know, all the stuff in XBL that you DON'T get? Because while you're paying just to stay online, I'm paying to practically horde free games and discounts...I mean, did I mention how I got Borderlands and all DLC's for just $10? I think I did.

1.) Seeing as I play PS3, PC, and 360, I already know this. My point was if you can afford an internet connection, game consoles and tv's and all that other business - £5 a month is a tiny expense, especially considering I can spend more than that on food in 1 day..

2.) Theres gonna be stupid kids everywhere, it just seems (again, ime) that generally on ps3 the majority of players are silly kids with names like XoXQUIKSCOPE22XoX. Yes these *bleep*tards exist on 360 but it's rare i'll see a game lobby full of these fools.

And about the mic - that free microphone may not be the greatest, but it's decent enough. You don't tend to see many 3rd party mics either. Which leads me onto the ps3...haven't been in a single lobby yet without someone sounding like they are using an onion as a microphone. I'm gonna go right ahead and say it - allowing people to use any mic they please is a bad move.

Now if you talk about ANY other game, cod for example (or any game where players host)
PS3 will generally be a worse experience. People who pay to play online generally (again ime) will have a reliable connection. Not every time, but most of the time.

And finally, if you think it's a rip off, great. Personally £5 a month is a negilible amount of money, and ime the service is generally much better. Like I said before I could spend over £5 on food in minutes, so I don't mind paying it for a worthwhile online experience.

Edit - *bleep* me, that turned into a bit of an essay. Before anyone starts hammering at me for being a fanboy or starting console wars or blah blah blah. I Own and play all 3 discussed formats, while I big up 360 here I still play all my consoles mostly equally and enjoy them all.

So they SHOULDN'T allow people to use cheaper mics? You're ok with being forced to buy Microsoft ONLY stuff? Was that defending or dissing Xbox policy? That's like dissing the PS3's compatibility with 3rd party/cheaper HDD while the Xbox forces you to buy much more expensive first party stuff.

You must've been REALLY blessed. Or you never actually visited DICE's BC2 forums which were constantly flooded with threads about online issues and such? Also dedicated servers? So Microsoft's supposed servers were on vacation then? They must've been on vacation with Borderlands as well, wonder how many other games those servers were taking vacation on.

Aggressive? Who's being aggressive? Am I insulting anyone? And you keep mentioning how the service is much better and how the price is not a big deal but why do you keep skipping around the fact that PS+'s service costs exactly the same and gives you more in return?

I never got into Sony because of a bad experience. When I saw the PS3 for $600, I swore to myself to never purchase a Sony console EVER. But facts are facts, When both systems start charging the same price, it's basic that the one with more to offer is the one that's actually doing it right. So if Sony's being really "cheap" by handing over free games, then Microsoft really needs to stop being so "humble".

lol I'm only taking the piss.

like I said in one of my other posts, I got lag on a few games on PS3 and I simply felt the whole experience to be slow and sloppy, in my experience. So I am paying for a lag free experience, to play with my mates (who the majority have xbox), party chat, early released DLC and that's about it. I earn enough money for £40 a year to be nothing to me so I really don't care..
