HDMI problem?

This Christmas I was pleasantly gufted a new HD ready tv for my birthday and an xbox HDMI cable for my 360, I have noticed that the graphics on most games are blurry. I know a lot of games run at 720 p so I turned the optimised resolution down to 720 p and others nut it has jot solves the problem. Shall I buy a HD component cable? My tv is compatiable with it. Please guy a bit of help here .

Only on most games? Are you sure it's not just the games having poor graphics? If it's the cable's problem, there's no reason it would only cause this part of the time. It's more likely either the games, or perhaps you need to optimize your TV settings. Either way, I don't think using a component cable would solve the problem.

As for the resolution, choosing your TV's native resolution is the best option. If that's not available, then choose the optimal resolution option.

The shadows and outlines of characters are wavy and the backdrops are grainy.

Mass Effect intentionally has a film grain effect. You can turn it off in the options menu. You probably just couldn't notice it on your SD TV. GTAIV might have something similar. As for the shadows and outlines, it's probably just the game's graphics as well.

I don't know man, it's hard for me to see what you're describing without actually being there. All I can say is, just make sure you have your resolution settings, black levels, and aspect ratio settings correct on the 360, and mess around with your TV's settings to get it calibrated to your liking.

There shouldn't be any reason that using HDMI would make it look worse, unless it always looked bad and now you're seeing the bad in a clearer, higher resolution.

If you really wanted, you could still use your old RCA cable and compare the two.

I tried to find my old one but I realised unless I used a scart thing I couldn't just plug in the red yellow and White components I need the HD Av component cable. I'm not sure it's just really strange . Also it's around 24 inches I think . I sit about two and a half feet away from it.
