Why is my Xbox so slow?

Lately, and for the past few weeks, it seems as if my Xbox 360 is just horribly slow. The guide doesn't come up as soon as I press the guide button anymore, it takes about 10-15 seconds most of the time. Same thing with looking through friends, achievements, etc. It seems to be at it's worst when I view people I recently played with, it seems to freeze up for a good 20-25 seconds before allowing me to do anything at all. Same thing with closing my guide, it just seems so laggy/delayed, it takes at least 10-15 seconds before closing.

Any reason as to why this might be? I'm not on an HDTV or anything that may be the cause of the lag, just my PC monitor... but when I go back to my little 13'' TV, it does the same thing.

Try clearing your cache.

My Xbox is running slow I don't use Internet. I jus bought my son new game and it updated the 360 and now it's actin strange like it freezes when I hook the kinect up n then when unhook it the Xbox loads but still slow and my profile avatar was blank then not

Well my xbox goes slow doing everything.... loading the dashboard, games, going to different places on the dashboard... its the first xbox 360 that came out. the white arcade version.

Try resetting the cache on the hard drive under the settings. Should speed everything right back up. Unfortunately it will also delete updates so you will have to re-download them.
