IN FIRST SEASON 40MIL TRANSFER BUDGET HELP!!!!!!

im nt sure umm first season my players are

Goalkeepers:Robert Green Lee Camp, Lee Grant

Defenders:Noe Pamarot,Titus Bramble,Marc Edworthy,Billy Jones, Michael Johnson,Paul Boertien

Midfielders:Amdy Faye,Pedro Mendes,Inigo Idakes,Ashley Young,Steve Sidwell, Seth Johnson, Sean David, Johannes Djourou,Giles Barnes,Adam Bolder,Morten Bisgaaed

Strikers:Tommy Smith, Kanu,Carlton Cole,

You could of course do the decent thing and throw yourself on your sword and resign (before you get fired) and pick up a job (check the job centre first perhaps, leagues one or two) with another club either now or in the near future. Thinking about it logically I doubt your players think you have the were with all to keep them up this season and if you don't I doubt Derby will give you a contract extension.

ok mate well you need to be a bit more clear about the circumstances you are in if you'd like people's help. As it no doubt sounded to Morewood (and myself), you had played through the first half of the season somewhat hopelessly. This not being the case it would seem that the task you face now is a bit easier than I first thought.

You will no doubt avoid relegation this season, but of course you want to finish the season with the strongest possible squad with which to achieve promotion in season 2.

I am presuming that you are competant enough tactically, so I wont go too far into that, but the advice given by morewood is pretty much spot on for championship in that respect. Perhaps just to elaborate slightly from his point, EVERY outfield player can have thier tactics tweaked slightly eg, wingers 'run with ball', center mid 'through balls often' etc. You could even have your strikers play differing roles if their profiles vary eg. one strong foward to 'hold up ball' and 'play through balls' etc and the other, a speedy dribbler can 'run with ball' and 'make foward runs often'. Morewood has talked about this as tactics are the best way to sqeeze every last bit out of a weak squad. Play to the strengths of your squad and try to reduce the severity of any weaknesses you might have.

If your transfer budget is as big as you say, change most of the coaching staff, this can also help get the most out of the players you already have. Anyone coaching below a 4 star standard should be sacked and replaced by better staff! Note: when you reach a certain amount of coaches, potential new ones will say they are not interested as they 'wont be able to express themselves with the large number of staff currently employed at the club'. To avoid this you should offer contracts to a large number of coaches with different areas of expertise all at once after sacking the current ones.

Once my boss has left the office shortly I will look at my game which is now 3 and half seasons in to evaluate your team and suggest a couple of signings....

One last topic that could help before that is scouting. DONT USE SCOUTS! They are stupid and don't know a good player when they see one. The burden of scouting unfortunately is entirely on you and it is a much bigger task now with Derby than it would have been with ManUtd. Obvious place to start is transfer listed players. There might just be a couple of gems that are unwanted by bigger clubs but would fit straight into yours. Also, listed players are far more likely to agree a move to you in the hope of some first team action.

When a began my current game with Ujpest, I found a lot of good players by scouting EVERY national team on the world cup rankings list (this includes u19/21's). Of course this takes time so I would set myself a target of scouting maybe 30 of them in each game week that passed. Also, when you do find a national team with some bargain players, don't stop there, start scouting the crappy club teams that they play for and if more players are discovered that have a value that is 'too low' for their standard then scout the other crappy teams in that crappy league. I think you probably get the message now.

Sorry, having now read your later posts your maybe not as green as I thought. Assuming your tactics are sound enough you should avoid relegation without too much difficulty with that squad.

Green – Good goalie, will get a little better is good enough to play for you in the PL.
Camp – OK as a reserve goalie, has lots to learn yet though.
Grant – Hes young and will get better, wont ever be good enough though.

Goalkeeping verdict – your alright in this area.

Pamarot – Some potential for improvement but you could do a lot better.
Bramble – Young yet experienced Bramble is a good player but not world class, could survive in the PL.
Edworthy – Past it right back, you don't need him.
Jones – Versatile defender who gets better with age, he will never be brilliant though PL potential.
Johnson – Past it centre back, you don't need him.
Boertien – a jobbing left back, not good enough to hold down a place in the PL.

Defence verdict – you could do with a new left back and perhaps a centre back.

Faye – A good DMC/CM hes one of your stronger players.
Mendes – a solid midfielder he is good enough to play in the PL.
Idakes – not a player I am familiar with, sorry cant help.
Young – will be a good player in a year or two although in season one he isn't good enough
Sidwell – as good as he gets and not brilliant at that, get rid.
Johnson – Handy in the left of midfield, solid but not brilliant.
David – not a player I am familiar with, sorry cant help.
Djourou - will be a good player in a year or two although in season one he isn't good enough
Barnes – needs to develop yet but wont ever be good enough for the PL.
Boulder - needs to develop yet but wont ever be good enough for the PL.
Bisgaaed - not a player I am familiar with, sorry cant help.

Midfield Verdict – you need a Right Midfielder desperately and perhaps an AMC.

Smith – young player gets a bit better but isn't PL material.
Kanu – A big talent that you can perhaps revitalise, OK he is past his best but can still do you well for perhaps 2 seasons.
Cole – Talented young striker but he wont ever be world class, should be OK in the PL though.

Attack Verdict – if you can get Kanu back towards his best you should be OK this season.

Who would I buy?
Kerlon – AMC/FC £4m, he should come to a championship side and will quickly develop into a superstar.
Jimenez – AM/FLRC £4m, plugs your right hand midfield role immediately and has superstar potential.
Medjani – SW/DC £750k, a solid youngster who will bolster your defence.
Fabio – D/ML £6m, a versatile young left back/wing back who could be a Brazilian legend will play cross over with Johnson and make lots of goals.

That plugs the gaps and leaves you another £20+ million to go barmy with if you can find a star to buy.

oh, and try to sign Nicola Zigic or perhaps slightly less realisticly, Jan Koller (who's superb for about 3 seasons).

Both are massive fowards who would desttroy the championship and still be effective for a couple of prem seasons.

Don't be put off by Zigic's relatively low stats, he'll score goals for fun if u can get him
