That's right, this is the game that contained the infamous phrase. Don't know what else to say about it, but when this forum was made it was obvious a thread would get made on the subject so I thought I better do it.

Shame this game was never released in the US though most people seem to have heard of the legendary phrase.

Because it did make it over to the UK and other parts of Europe, LanDi Sama actually has the game at that. ^^

I don't know why it never was ported to America though.

Well according to this website (NOT the official one by the way, it was set up by fans. Toaplan went bust about 10 years ago now) it had something to do with Midway owning the Arcade rights of the game and that prevented it from being released in America. Naturally if you want the biggest market then you go for the US but if they didn't have the money to hire a decent translator then they wouldn't have had the money to buy any rights off Midway.

As I said in the other thread, this game wasn't anything terribly outstanding for me in terms of gameplay. It's just got quite possibly the most famous mistranslation in all of video games.

I did kinda dig the music though; and when All Your Base hit the news years ago (2004 or 2003, me forgets), folks took off every zig to download an mp3 version of the arcade version theme song.

I was sent a song by a friend, it was a mix of the music from the first level and a voiceover of the opening cinematic credits including "All your base". The song is about 3 and a half minutes long if I remember rightly.

I never actually saw anything on the news about it or if I did I don't remember it, I first found out about it a while ago on the Internet. I wish I had the actual game at home but alas I've never been able to find it anywhere. ;_;

Yeah, and though the game should be worth like, 10 cents, you probably won't find it on ebay for less than 40 bucks. ;.; Thankfully, the best part is available in flash animations all over the web. I think it's even got an officially unofficial site with a certain flash animation that has all these photoshopped images of real world pics, edited to contain some bit of dialogue from tne intro.

Haha, that one's awesome. Yeah, seems like when it resurfaced it became a craze that a hell of a lot of people were caught up in. I missed it because I was too young at the time and wasn't online nor did I see it on the news. This was something I stumbled across the other day which I found pretty hilarious.

The phrase also appears in SOCOM 1 in the online mode. Normally, after the terrorists win a round, a female voice would say "Terrorists Win" in this firm tone. But every once in a while and I mean very rarely, she would say "All your base are belong to us".
