Star Wars: Battlefront II Competition League |
|
Welcome to the ![]() Competition League! I just want to start off by saying that this idea was approved by UWD, so don't worry. So, I've had some ideas for awhile now about how we could compete without actually playing online, because some members(like myself) don't have online support. So, I kind of thought of new additions to the plan and I finally decided to make it a reality, so here it is. What is the Star Wars: Battlefront II Competition League? It is an opporitunity to battle against other players without playing online. I'm also hoping that it will give some new life to the game for some, and give the SWBFII forum some more activity. How does the Star Wars: Battlefront II Competition League work? Each player plays a certain amount of games on competition days(the numbers of games and challenges will be announced on competition days). For each task they complete and stat they raise, they will get a certain amount of points (the scoring system will be announced later). The player with the most points wins, and I will handle the player rankings. Wait, how will we know that people aren't lying about their points? Well, since we're not playing online, there is no real way to know. But I trust that you won't cheat to make the game fun for others. But I know most of you guys and I trust you, so I'm not too worried. You can post screens if you like, but I doubt most of you will want to go through all that trouble. Isn't this too similar to the tournament thread? It's roughly based off the tournament thread, but with a twist. I hope it will be just as much, if not more fun as the tournament thread. Okay, here we go. Official Rules(Read Before Playing!) Games will be played every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the occasional game on weekdays (these will be announced on the forum, so keep checking back for game days). Every player will play a predetermined amount of games (the number of games to play will also be announced on game days) and will earn a predetermined of points for certain stats(such as kills, medals earned, etc.). Players will also gain extra points by completing certain tasks(these are optional, but reccomended for optimal scoring). These tasks will be announced on game day as well. Matches should only be played in quickplay mode and on Conquest. The number of reinforcements should be set on 300% for matches on game days. Players will be ranked weekly according to their point total. Infinite ammo, invinciblity, and setting reinforcements to more or less than 300% is not allowed. No cheating of any kind, please. Let's keep the game fun. One last thing, Use of Jedi is allowed. You will have to add up your points according to this counter at the end of each match, so keep a pad and pencil and calculator handy. Scoring System= Each kill= 15 ponts Each medal earned= 30 points (Demolition and Technician medals are worth 40 points) Each player point= 5 points Each hero point= 10 points Each headshot= 25 points Each overall victory= 100 points It is reccommended that you wait to add up your stats until after the match, at the stats screen. Note: If you get two related stats, for example, you get a kill that's a headshot, count it both as a kill and a headshot. Posting Your Score When posting your score, post the overall scores you got on each map and then your total score. It should look something like this(this is only an example): [Map 1]- Score= 100 [Map 2]- Score= 100 [Map 3]- Score= 100 [Map 4]- Score= 100 [Map 5]- Score= 100 Total Score= 500 Remember, the challenges will be announced on gamedays, as well as the amount of matches to play and the maps that the matches will be played on. I'm not the best at writing instructions, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. Have fun and keep checking back for gameday notes! The first game will be played on Thursday, September 25, 2008. Be back here to get informed on challenges and maps! The Q and A So Far... quoteA: Difficulty should be set on normal for matches. quoteA: Yes, you can add up your headshots at the stat screen like the other stats (kills, medals, etc.). quoteA: If the kill is a headshot, count it as both a kill and a headshot. quoteA: See above for the format in which to post your score. quoteA: You can use or existing profile or create a new one, either one you want. It really doesn't matter, because the stat screen shows the number of medals you got in that match. quoteA: Nope, it's never too late. There's no entry deadline, just step in and play whenever you want. This message was edited by SonicHero12 on Sep 25 2008. Well this looks interesting, looking forward to this in action.
On a side not, do we play regular matches on single-player and report the progress back here on the match outcome? -------------------

I'm up for it, however probably not for a few weeks till I have more time. Also, how many people enter each time? Is it like an all-on-all type game where as many people can enter and the best score wins, or is it more team based?

This looks like a lot of fun. Looking forward to it! I'll be busy the next few weeks so I don't think i'll be participating but can't wait to join you guys!
But I don't get the idea of playing a number of games... So like, we play the same map numerous times but then how do we post it and all? I'll just watch this space. I think after the first few matches, things will be smoother. ------------------- ![]() quote UltimateWookieeDeathHow right you are!

@ Nightmare: Yes, you play the matches on singleplayer and then you add up your points according to the scoring system.
@UWD: As many people can enter as they want. There's not a limit, just whoever has the highest score at the end is the winner. And it will be every man for himself, not team-based. Though that owuld be interesting. Maybe we could have a team-based event here eventually. @ RM: We're playing a certain number of games on game days to keep the game close. If we play as many matches as we want, people can have unbeatable scores, etc. Also, the number of matches to be played and the maps that we will play on will be announced on game days. I will try to alert you ahead of time about game days so keep checking back. ;D This message was edited by SonicHero12 on Sep 23 2008. ------------------- ![]()

Ok then, I'll be participating, but I'll only post my results at about 8-9 my time when my parents bring back the laptop.
I'll be whooping ya'll. Here's my question, what difficulty setting? 2nd Question, does the stat screen actually show the amount of Headshots? 3rd: If we score a headshot, do wwe count just the 25 points or do we count the 15 for the kill as well?

Be sure to put Kamino in your list somewhere. Sniper stage! Yay!
Also, do we just add up our points and post it here or we post our stats and everything here as proof for the amount of points we get? ------------------- ![]() quote UltimateWookieeDeathHow right you are!

@ Subaru: Difficulty should be on normal for matches. And yep, the stat screen shows your amount of headshots. And if you get a headshot, you get the 15 points for the kill as well as the 25 for the headshot.
@ RM: Nah, just add up the points and post them here. Look at the first post to see the format to use to post your points. Remember, game day is tomorrow so get ready. ------------------- ![]()

Wait, should we play with our existing medals or on a brand new profile?
Because not everyone has every medal at legendary *coughUWDcough* And Sonic, can you PM me with the matches? I need to have a heads-up because I won't be able to play a set of matches in the two hours available.

@ Subaru: You can use or existing profile or create a new one, either one you want. It really doesn't matter, because the stat screen shows the number of medals you got in that match. And I'll try to get ahead with PMing you the info.
@ GoBraves95: THere's never a joining deadline, participate whenever you want. EDIT: Gameday info updated! Look at the announcement space for info. Edit again: I just finished up my matches. It was a lot of fun. Kashyyyk Score: 3,665 Kamino Score: 5,820 Death Star Score: 2,265 Coruscant Score: 4,910 Hoth Score: 260 Win/Loss Record: 5-0 (Perfect record baby >=D) Total Score: 16,920 pts. So, yeah. I was decent. And no, that's not a typo on Hoth. Thanks to my amazing teammates we won that match in two minutes so I didn't have a lot of time to work on points.
