what's a good fire pokemon to use throughout the game.

Chimchar is a good one. I have used Chimchar in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum.

Since the only other Fire type you can get regularly is Ponyta, Chimchar really. Nape is a beast. >_>;

I don't know why, but I've never been a big fan of 'Nape. Though, none of my team is from the Shinnoh reagion, I guess I cannot say much.

yeah if you are playing diamond you cant really get a good fire type unless you started with

well,if you have turdtwig you can level it (or wimp and use a tm) to learn earthquake. when it's torterra of course. As you should know steel is bad against ground,earthquake has good attack,and blah blah.

I do believe fighting is good against steel. If you can, use a Lucario, if not, you could get a Machamp and easily win. Glad to help.
