re: What is your team?

actually you need a correction...elrik doesn't specialize in any weapons, which means that he is a good canidate for a snapdragon sword...or if you prefer you may give him a thrusting sword and clotho...his base movement is exactly the same as rictor's...and i completely disagree with the healing magic statement. i think healing magic is almost completely unneeded at the end of the game. my team kills everyone so fast and almost all of them have very high def. or high hp (otherwise they stay behind lines) therefore i have no need for healing magic unless i can't reach an enemy with an attack. besides if you're in such dire needs to heal have elanor be your priest...she's much better than rictor at healing and personally i'd rather have him focus on attacking with clotho and ignis fatuus

re: What is your team?

Eleanor may be a good healer but she can't be a priest and be that good at other stats. Oh sorry I really screwed up on the name Euphaire, but she has much more mst than Elrik. Why would you use Elrik as a fighter he's one of the few people that you can summon with, His stats are to balanced to be that good basically he's just a warlock that can summon.

hey im new here but i have been playing for a while now.
here is my team:
Orson(i like archers they r so cool)
me(i'm a swordmaster o' course)
Deneb(temptation is too good not 2 use)
Elrik(summon golem thats so funny)
eleanor(priest i need to heal my guys dont i?)
Siren(theycan cast summons)
Swordmaster(they r really good)
Dragoon(they look so cool and they are hard to beat)
my team seems a bit odd(i use an archer) but i like to use strategy instead of playing 7 liches or 7 swordmasters and killing everybody with powerful guys. that gets booring

re: What is your team?

I made this file on a whim and it has served me pretty well:
Alphonse - Warlock
Element: Fire
Oberon (holy elemental snapdragon sword)
Robe of the Wise
Ring of Flight
Firecrest
Fluid Magic, Time Flux, Barren Soul, Atropos

Rictor - High Priest
Element: Water
Peridot Sword
Saint's Garb
Dragon Eyes
Warp Ring
Ignis Fatuus, Resurrection, Heal Plus, Clotho

Elanor - Siren
Element: Water
Ripply's Staff
Cloak of Authority
Pearl Necklace
Firecrest
Fenrir, Ice field, Ice Javelin, Star Tiara

Elrik - Summoner
Element: Earth
Darmak's Blade (earth elemental snapdragon sword)
Robe of Abyss
Ring of Flight
Firecrest
Gnome, Crag Crush, Summon Golem

Orson - Archer
Element: Wind
Sherwood Bow
Grincer Coat
Sherwood Hat
Hunting Boots
Lachesis

Falcion - Dragoon
Element: Wind
Storm Blade (wind elemental snapdragon sword)
Short Bow
Southern Cross
Winged Boots
Air Blade

Kage - Ninja
Element: Fire
Cutting Edge (fire elemental snapdragon sword)
Cloak of Oath
Dragon Helm
Warp Ring
Shuriken Barrage, Firestorm

Karthox - Angel Knight
Element: Bane
Fragarach
Goblin Helm
Robe of Abyss
Seraph's Plume
Banish, (the other move i forget)

This message was edited by DeathKnight on Nov 20 2002.

Here's another team:
This is pretty unusual. I have 2 pure fighters (Saia and Alphonse, a healer (Elanor), a spellcaster (Cybil), a support caster (Deneb), an archer (Pollux), and two characters that don't really fit, they're both more physical though (Castor and Shiven). Please critique my setup.
Alphonse - Swordmaster
Element: Fire
Oberon (Holy Snapdragon Sword (SS))
Robe of the Wise
Firecrest
Warp Ring
Swallow's Daze, Pelting Fury, Molten Blade, Atropos
Alphonse has incredible offense and defense. Oberon offers decent agility, great strength, which means great defense, and decent intelligence, which is only for his magic defense. Cloak of Oath is holy adding bane res. and it takes no weight. Firecrest is there for obvious reasons, and warp ring allows him to move easier. Also, all his items except Oberon add 0 weight. Molten Blade is used only if Alphonse can't reach his enemies, and it is usually given to his allies considering his power is already so overwhelming. And on a side note: Oberon supports adjacent allies.

Elanor - Priest
Element: Water
Serenia (Water SS)
Cloak of Authority
Firecrest
Warp Ring
Heal Plus, Resurrection, Heal, Star Tiara
I usually make Elanor a priest because it fits for her. Star Tiara gives her and offensive spell, heal plus is there fore area healing, heal is for a quick heal, and resurrection is just in case. Serenia is loaded with INT so hers is out the roof. Cloak of Authority just adds Res. w/ no weight. Firecrest and warp ring are there for the same reasons as they were for Alphonse.

Shiven - Ninja
Element: Fire
Durandel (Bane SS)
Firedrake Sword
Firecrest
Ring of Flight
Firestorm, Shurkien Barrage
Shiven is a great character. He can attack with Durandel, which focuses on strength and agility and still adds great INT for firestorm and for magic defense. Some of you may say i dont' need Firedrake sword but it's not too heavy and the agility from Durandel negates it's weight. It's there for extra power. Firecrest is there to keep him alive, and Ring of Flight grants him even greater moblility.

Cybil - Sorceress
Element: Wind
Storm Blade (Wind SS)
Thunder Shield
Southern Cross
Seraph's Plume
Fiend's Grip, Thunderbird, Teleport
As you all know, Cybil is an amazing character. This setup tries to give her a decent amount of defense. The Storm Blade grants amazing agility, and decent INT, a little less than decent STR (also increases LUCK). The Thunder Shield grants good defense, not too much weight, and good earth res. Southern Cross is for even more defense and Bane Res. because most of the enemies you encounter at the end of the game use bane techniques. The Storm Blade adds agility to make up for mobility and the Seraph's Plume lessens the weight and adds a little more mobility. I gave her teleport for support to move her around and other characters. If she gets in trouble she can teleport herself to safety. Fiend's grip is a great spell, and since i don't have a lich i used it with Cybil. It has great offensive capabilities when it's more applicable to use than thunderbird. And finally i'm sure you can see why i use thunderbird.

Saia - Lesser Daemon
Element: Bane
Bloody Cleaver
Goblin Helm
Robe of Abyss
Ring of Flight
Brain Sap, Nightmare
Bloody Cleaver and Goblin Helm add great strength to Saia. Goblin helm offers good defense, and those two in conjunction with the Robe of Abyss offer amazing Holy Res. The Ring of Flight adds to mobility. I gave Saia Brain Sap to foil the plans of magic users, nightmare because there's nothing else. I would give enfeeble but you can use bloody cleaver for that, and it doesn't even have a fixed chance of breaking.

Deneb - Witch
Element: Fire
Kerykeion
Phoenix Mail
Dragon Helm
Dragon Eyes
Temptation, Fluid Magic, Salamander
The kerykeion add great intelligence to Deneb along with the added bonus of good Holy RES. The Phoenix Mail adds great defense and Water RES, the Dragon Helm adds even more defense and blocks all dragon attacks, and finally the Dragon Eyes adds some intelligence and cancel all status anomolies. She isn't very mobile, but Deneb mostly stays in the back and it's better to keep her out of harms way. Temptation is great for charming and overall support. Fluid Magic is practically a must for Cybil and Elanor, and salamander finally gives Deneb the offensive edge if needed.

Castor - Angel Knight
Element: Bane
Answerer
Dragon Shield
Robe of Abyss
Necklace of Resist
Banish, whatever the other move is called, Clotho
Castor is a great character overall. He does need some maintenance i.e. a lot of sword emblems help, but if you're really good at this game you're doing that for every character. Dragon shield adds good defense overall, and esp. against dragons. Robe of Abyss adds holy RES and necklace of resist cancels all magic, but remember to have some healing salves on hand, not that they're really needed because is defense is sufficient and his mobility is good so he can usually just fly away from danger. Flight or Warp is not needed because of the innate flying ability of angel knights. Clotho is to supplement the offense in conjunction with the answerer. Castor's defense isn't anything to brag about but he's a great character overall and gets the job done when he needs to.

Pollux - Angel Knight
Element: Virtue
Crescente
Freude Helm
Cloak of Oath
Seraph's Plume
Banish, Whatever the other move is called, Lachesis
It takes a while to get Crescente but it's a great bow. It adds a lot of power and also has a high probability of stunning the enemy. Freude Helm provides great defense and the weight is allowed. Cloak of Oath adds no weight and gives Pollux great Bane Res. in conjunction with the Freude Helm. Finally, Seraph's Plume lessens the weight and increases the mobility. He can cause great damage with Lachesis but this leaves him crippled so mobility is key.

re: What is your team?

well my only gripes r that i hate pure archers and pure dragoons, but that being said, i wouldnt dare do it cause i use a lot of accesories(firecrest, serphs plume, sacred stone of bliss)the whole snapdragon+short bow thind deathknight is so brilliant seriously i mean it makes ur dragoon dangerous from a distance, however if ur tryin to fill the gap between he and his opponent with something meaningful i say go with seraphs plume and close the gap faster.

re: What is your team?

thanx shaher, and yea like i said this team was totally off on a whim. the dragoon (Falcion) already has great strength, so the short bow can actually do some damage, and it acutally packs a punch against weak spellcasters. i ran into the question that you addressed, is it better just to increase mobility and get him to characters faster so he can just kill them or use short bow to add some distance for his physical attacks. i decided to go with the latter simply because i had never done so before and because i didn't like doing nothing when i couldn't reach the enemy. in truth, a swordmaster serves the purposes of a dragoon much better because it has its own distance attack and uses support magic instead of 1st level offensive magic. a lot of the things i did in this file i never did before i.e. make alphonse a warlock and elanor a siren. the only reason i have a pure archer, as i do not like them usually either, is because it's orson. he's a special character so his stats are a little increased (side note: if you're wondering how i got the 4 hunting wares in path B, it's because i traded) so i figured why not use him. thanks for the input though

re: What is your team?

i only have 2 problems. #1 you use more than one character with atropos haha...#2 i think rictor may do more damage with a peridot sword if he was water elemental. it'd probably be pretty close but longicolnis weighs him down more...but it's just a matter of preference. besides you need longicolnis against shaher so oh well. i like it though

Well... This is my super-ultra-cheap-cheap team... Why? Cuz I just simply bought 30 Firecrests. And wasted all my money in the process...

??? (I'm not saying the names)
[Griffin]

Firecrest
Firecrest
Firecrest
Firecrest

???
[Siren]
Firecrest
Firecrest
Firecrest
Snapdragon

???
[Lich]
Snapdragon
Firecrest
Firecrest
Firecrest

???
[Dragon (still not telling what)]
Firecrest
Firecrest
Firecrest
Firecrest

???
[Swordmaster]
Snapdragon
Firecrest
Firecrest
Firecrest

Don't judge ??? on giving a Lich 3 Firecrests but this team is just downright cheap. (Owned by a friend of mine.)

re: What is your team?

i'm assuming that the swordmaster is Alphonse...the only way that could be cheaper, IMO, is giving each human 2 snapdragons and 2 firecrests, because a snapdragon adds strength, intelligence and agility, and if you think about it, in the process it adds defense (both physical and magical) and doesnt take too much weight. so 2 good snapdragons are better than 1 snapdragon and 1 firecrest IMO
