iPhone Question... |
|
I have Verizon Wireless but really want an iPhone. I've looked all around the internet thinking that there MUST be one out there that works with VZW or a way to get it to work with VZW. Well yesterday I was on eBay and came across this. Now I am very skeptical about this and was wondering if you guys think this looks legit or not? I've asked him a few questions but I don't know how to tell if it is a scam or what. He says he got it to work with VZW by using a few programs, one of which changes the ESN to an ESN from a Verizon phone. Sound reliable or like this could work?

First thing I notice, 0 feedback. Most likely a scammer.
Second thing I know is that the iPhone is GSM while Verizon uses CDMA. You can't get an iPhone to work with Verizon at this point. -------------------

I'm guessing it's a scammer, also. The first gen iPhones support GSM, while Verizon is CDMA.
http://www.iphoneonverizon.com/ But, rumor has it that the iPhone will be available to Verizon customers in 2009. Of course, it will be a revised iPhone with CDMA support. ------------------- e6420 @ 3.0ghz//3400+ @ 2.55ghz Asus P5B-E//Asus K8V-SE Deluxe 460w PSU//400w PSU HD4870//HD3850 AGP 4GB RAM//1.5GB RAM 250GB//160GB RAID 0 + 250GB

Yeah I figured it was a scam because of the fact it's GSM even though when I called the guy(yes he gave me his number) he said it works because if you use a Verizon ESN on the phone the Verizon signal will find the iPhone but I couldn't see why that would work. I ended up buying XV6700 which looks like a nice phone and the guys is including and iPhone theme on it too.

Voyager, Glyde, Blackberry, Q, Palm Centro/Treo > iPhone.
iPhone is crap, not 3G, doesn't support Flash, can't RECORD VIDEOS, breaks too easily and is the most overpriced consumer electronic since... you guessed it, the iPod. Get a Voyager if you want iPhone like capability, or get a BB or Treo/Centro for more PDA functions. Trust me, I sell phones for RadioShack, worked in the Phone department in Best Buy, and live at Verizon Stores. OR wait for the iPhone 2 and get a more reasonably priced, somewhat better, 3G, phone... with AT&T coverage. ------------------- V770 Case, ASUS M3A-H, Phenom 9750 2.4 GHz, 4 GB DDR2-800/DDr2-1066, EVGA GeForce 8800GT SSC, X-Fi Xtreme Music

Nice work with the pointless bump. The iPhone is now not over priced as the 3G model is cheaper than the 1st gen iPhone was. Plus it is an awesome phone overall. Sure it may lack two main features, such as bluetooth between handsets and video capture. But it has so many other great features and styling to die for that it more than makes up for it. I have owned the 1st gen iPhone and now I have an iPhone 3G. I am very happy with it and I don't think it's overrated at all.

To me they look bloody awesome! I'd love to get one. And if you think about it, it is a Mobile and an iPod in one + more! So it's cheeper than buying both individually. I've seen the guided tour, it looks sweet!

True, they said it's the best ipod they ever made, plus it's a fantastic phone, has hundreds of applications and is broadband internet in your pocket. I love it.

The only thing that annoys me is having to pay for the net ON TOP of the plan. Steel Magnolia, do you have the Phone? Have you had any troubles with it? Is it worth the money. I'm probably going to get one. But I want the oppinion from those who already have it. thanks.

Is it worth upgrading to the 3G version of the Iphone from the old 2G version?
