here's the deal: i have aoe2 installed on my pc, but my brother lost the cd and I can't play it anymore because it says that i need a cd to play. is there a way to bypass this? plz plz i really want to play this game again but i cant because of the stupid cd.

Doubtful, at least by legal means. Best thing to do is contact Ensemble Studios and see if there is anything that they can do for you.

Closest thing you can do legally is if you and someone else have a disc and have paid for each disk, using only one of them to start up both games. Only thing is that its better if you had your friends that play rather close to where you live, because I really doubt it'd be worth it to start a game, wait 30 minutes for your friend to get home to start his game, and then play...

I did this on a LAN with my roomy and it works great. However, we couldn't get the AoE2 Conquerors version to work this way. Anyone know if there is a way around this? I imagine the makers did this on purpose.

It should work fine unless both of you have the same CD Key. If you installed AoE2 Conquerors with the same disk on both computers you simply wont find each others computers.

unable to remember the program but its free basically its a program that makes your computer think the disc is in the drive but i am unable to remember the name of it right now if i remember ill come back and post the name of the program...

well as long as you paid for your own copy and cd key etc. im sure you can just use a cracked .exe

It's a lawful oxymoron. He owns rights to the game and can lawfully play it. Legally, if you have those rights you can 'backup' your CD for personal use. Ironically, there's no legal way to do that. This is the main reason why LP's are actually coming back in style as it comes with a digital recording of the music as well.
