ive been playing multiplayer over vpn with hamachi and usually about an hour into gameplay or not even the game lags out. a window pops up where you can select to wait or leave and no option results in anything. if the host selects an option then the other person sees the choice instantly. but it the other person makes a choice, the host wont see if for a min or so..

I know of this screen. Happens quite a bit when playing multiplayer.

This is an occurrence of when the multiplayer game goes out of sync. It's a common error; especially when there are high pings in play.

Before a game, check the other players pings. The ping is the amount of interference between you and the other player. The further the person away from you is, the higher the ping. So: lower the ping the better. (High speed lowers ping) As a general rule, the ping you're looking for is between 150 and 400.

Knowing this, the higher the ping, the better chance the game goes out of sync leading to the error screen.

There isn't, unfortunately, much you can do about it except play people with low pings.

well i am playing with just 1 friend who live 2 miles from me. and his ping is under 100... im not really understanding how this is the only game that goes 'out of sync' and there is no way to get back in sync.

I suggest you look for an update. I know version 1.0b fixes this a lot, but not completely. However, you'll both need to download it.

i have the latest update... it came out 5 years ago.

Then perhaps the problem isn't with the game at all but is with your computers. Make sure there's nothing running other then AoE itself when playing. The less your computer has to think, the better.

I wish I could help out more. The only last thing I really have left to say is get high speed internet if you don't already have it. Sorry.

must be a bug within hamachi or an aoe2-crack i suppose

Im having exactly the same problem , tried everything but my games are crashing after 30~ min with that wait/continue/save screen. Anyone has similar problems?
