I'd have to say either either the Huns or the Chinese.
Huns because of their unique calvary unit that just levels buildings (plus paladin creation). And then there's the fact that they don't need to build any houses. Being able to create a mass amount of powerful calvary can't be beat.

The chinese are great because the unique archers have a fast shooting speed and are pretty powerful. Also, the chinese start with more units, and alot of their upgrades cost alot less than other civlizations

doesnt matter the civ really, i made a brilliant army of hand canoneers, skirmishers, arbalests, the strongest mangonels, and priests. unbelievable team work. the archers kill from afar, skirmishers kill the ones thats get a little too close, and the cannoneers just slaughter the horsemen who get by the others. the mangonels destroy everything in sight while my priests heal the wounded. a group of 3 priests with all upgrades in the Church thing... jesus, they make a heck of a team. i passed my population limit by about 50 because of conversions. try the team out guys, you just might love it

Depends on your enemyes I think. For example if you play versus archer civ choose goths who huskarl kill most of the units.
If you think for example that Aztec civ is the best, lets play on water map where Japanese/Vikings own everything(Aztecs are weak on dock). So it's impossible to have best civ in AoE games. That's good.

Could you write why do you like each civ? For example I love Goths very much becouse of Huskurles. They are VERY strong versus archers. They have 2+8 defence after all upgrades. They are very cheap and fast to train. So the whole game I have a big army and it is quite good.

well i like goths as well. pretty much because of their cheap infantry......and quicker barracks build time........plus becasue of their lack of walls you need to play aggressively which makes for an awesome game.

I like byzantines and japanese.

I especially like the civilizations with cannons.

Turks, not only because i am turkish myself but the fact that they have a discount on gunpowder. They also have pretty much everything you need. Those cannon guys just own buildings. Have 5 of those and u can take a castle down in a matter of 3-5 seconds. Lmao, sometimes when im bored i create a game with locked allies, everything explored, post imperial etc. And just make a bunch of these guys to blow my allies buildings away. Its funny as hell because they cant attack me and i just destroy their units and buildings with incredible ease.

There is obviously no best civ xD
For example, i consider the persians to be real strong, but i dislike Celts and Coreans a lot. But my favourite civ, hands down, the japanese . Second place, huns. Third place, mongols
