Tips for Hard please???
|
I have been a fan of AOE for many years. I play it casual and allways play on easy. It gets incredibly boring and isn't a challenge so i evetually tried it on hard. Things were going ok until two armies attacked me at the same time with about 20 militia each and burned my city to the ground.
Any tips?

can you beat one computer on hard?
the idea is to feudal in about 10 to 11 minutes then castle by about 16 ot 17 minutes.
but that will take a lot of practice............
antother strategy is a tower rush. which kills the computer rather easily. or just a normal feuday rush........it really depends on what you like to do.

Make allies with them right before they're about to attack.

well, i read a faq, though i havent beaten hard myself. I only started playing a day ago.
Basically some of the tips i found useful and that im trying to put into practice was stuff like:
1.Learn some hotkeys. You dont need to know all of them, imo if you do you're a loser lmao, but learn a few for the functions you use often. Makes ur game faster. 2.Dont research things you know you're not going to use. Especially not early on in the game where you need to grow fast. Only essentials.
One of the tactics which was mentioned in this faq was something called rush. Basically you try to make a military unit fast, early and send it to the enemy territory to kill off some of their villigers. The idea is to slow down ur enemies economy whilst growing your own.

this is what i do:
build ur economy, thats the key for me. get some form of defense early, get a barrack asap with a few militia just in case of an attack, if u get one then lure them to ur town center and use the bell to get ur villagers in.
if u have a good foundation you'll be fine. keep making villagers, and as you get to later stages gold is fkin important to maintain an army especially if u suffer losses. Build a castle straight away in castle age, u can lure an attack there if necessary or if u dont have a wall around your city, which I usually do just to slow down any attack.
Once I have a stable economy Ill build a castle, archery range and stable near their city, and start building an army away from my city. This means ur city is safe as ur new base will be the focus of their attacks. But to be sure make sure there is a few people back in your original town.
Anyways I usually end with two castles, two stables and two archery ranges in my little base, so I can create a large army quick, always have 3-6 trebuchets once ur in imperial age, scout ahead with a light cavalry to see any castles outside their walls, then target them with ur trebuchets and get ur infantry and cavalry to protect them and destroy any trebuchets that mightbe firing back. Once youve cleared the castles (they WILL take ur army out, or at least severely damage your numbers, try keep ur troops away until ur siege weapons deal with the castle)then take out a wall and send ur trebuchets inside to kill any castles and generally wreak havoc, once ur whole army is inside its pretty much game over.
Make sure you keep checking ur original town to ensure your resources keep coming in, have alot of farms, at very least 10 lumberjacks (ive won with just 8 before), and by the end at least 2 sets of 7 miners on a couple of gold mines. If you balance it right then you should always have quite alot of resources throughout. Finally, make sure you max out your blacksmith to keep ur troops strong and keep producing troops at your castle base in case your first wave of attacks fails.
This works for me, hope it helps, I can pretty much win on hard 1v1 and 1v2 every time, 1v3 gets tricky I usually get done on relics ....

well if you are not going to post helpful advice why post??????? or maybe someone is trying to raise a postcount....... i kind of agree with the above post......but never limit yourself to 8 or 10 wood cutters. i have about 30 farms about 25 woodcutters about 25 gold miners, and about 15 stone miners, if you run out of stone put them on wood, and if you run out of gold, divide them between food and wood. definitely build foreward bases, but just spam military buildings......the more you have, the quicker you replace casualties.

you need to build more towers.
Cannon towers r gud.
Get tons of villagers.
Make tons of your special unit, they are usually pretty good.
Get Monks lol. Spam convert.
Make fish traps cause then you can focus more on other stuff if you can you need water which isn't always on a lot of maps so be careful of that if there is no water you can't make fish traps also I wouldn't worry about a navy too much cause they usually don't matter when compared to towers y'know?

There are four basic tips for playing good against hard enemies, either against the pc or real players. 1st: you should advance to feudal age not too early or too late in the game, but hurrying up the advance to castle age as much as possible, because there you can make solid armies (feudal troops are mostly deffensive). 2nd: Strenghten your economy by making non-stop villagers on your town center until you reach castle age, and then make at least 2 additional town centers on castle, to pump lots of villagers, that will boom your economy. 3rd: Try to hit your enemie's economy as soon as you get castle age, with a group of 5-10 soldiers, preferably horse archers or knights, with the purpose of slowing down your enemies economy. and 4th, the most important: Make a strong and blunt attack as soon as you can, with heavy cavalry, mixed with archers and siege weapons; the combination of different kinds of troops is essential to the success of your attack, maybe even more than the strength of numbers
