I have not played AoEII in quite sometime, but I notice that on the hardest difficulty setting, the computer opponent is very slow and not even challenging. Has anyone an experienced this before? I installed the latest patch and that also didn't change it. Very frustrating when hardest plays just like the easiest setting. Please help.

hey, how are you? well the thing is when you play right, click on 'lock teams' and for where it says 'team' make sure you have a different number from the opponent, also some certain civlizations when cpu aren't as aggressive, but that should help you =D if u can beat hardest, let's play haha

Well I have successfully played against all opponents and checked the box, tried all different variations and the hardest setting is just like the easiest. Very frustrating. I also tried hardest setting on AoEII and it is the same. I am convinced that it is a bug or ???

If my memory is correct, it all started after installing the patch. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

make sure it says 'lock teams' and make sure you and ur opponent are on opposite teams, and make sure you change the victory to conquest or something. also how long are your games usually with hardest? the only difference between easy-hardest is that they will start with more economy and advance faster. also if you collect all the relics when playing against the computer they are USELESS they will not attack because they have no gold to. let me know if this helps or not
