Yeah but what are the chances of facing sneaks?

Sneaks crop up often enough. T-g is good for mage types because you don't get hit with the .75 nerf, as well as being a change up weapon. There will be times when your opponent has high magic defenses and lower ranged defenses. That's the perfect time for Epic Ranged weapons that have +23 bth as well as 10-30 damage without stat bonuses. I use T-g more often than Mjollnir, so I suggest it as the fist Epic Ranged weapon. I really love it for a couple of reasons: Wind is a pretty common weakness and T-g's special is high damage, especially when combined with CIT.

Weapons should do something for you that your spells can't. It could be a healing special or in this case an alternate form of attack. It worked for me when my character was a tank beastmage. I had Mjollnir and Shadow Spear. As I said, I think T-g is even better than Mjollnir.

Possible range weapons for my mage.

I have mage weapons sorted to how i want them, just looking at possible range weapons i could switch to if needed ?

So far i got TG, Shadow spear and mjolnir that im thinking about. Maybe candy cotton spear (the higher level one if i can), What are the other possibilities. And is it worth me changing to the spear of awe?

Though I can see the point of having a ranged weapon as a mage, Id sooner suggest having an armor that converts to magic to ranged. Especially not for wind, since mauriells melody has an amazing special.

What armour does that? asgardian leaves magic as magic ? only converts melee.

I'd prefer to push the attack button in either uber or epic armor, for me that means either Reign or Asgardian. I don't think those converting armors have near the damage output nor near the defensive capabilities of Reign or Asgardian.

When you convert, you are working under Ranged attack stat bonuses. That means you will be getting the bth bonus from your armor and weapon only. I'd bet that Asgardian + T-g + CIT is going to get better bth than MM + Drakel Disguise. MM + Drake Diguise isn't going to give you near the bth as Asgardian + T-g.

I don't know about MM's special, but I don't see how it could be any better than T-g's.

MM special actually sucks...
It gives your pets and guests an extra turn that is it...
If the special was to last for 2 rounds then it would actually be useful...

So should i just stick to having tombo girl or should i get other range weps too like mjolnir?

You've got three elements that have good ranged options: Wind, Energy and Darkness.

The question is whether or not you'd have a really good magic weapon that you don't want to give up for those slots. Personally, I don't see a magic Wind, Energy or Darkness weapon that is uniquely powerful and is a must have. Eventually, I'd pick up all three ranged weapons. The only question is what order to pick them up in since they are rather expensive.
