I would say that Sephiroth started hating Cloud after that incident with Jenova, that was shown in Crisis Core. The part where he stabs Sephiroth with the Buster Sword and cracks the glass.

I mean all through out FF7 sephiroth edges cloud on, and even goes so far as to give him pretty good materia.

The hatred must stem from the conclusion of ff7. not ffcc

Sephiroth wasn't exactly edging Cloud on. He was leading Cloud to the Reunion... Sort of proving a point that Cloud couldn't resist the natural urge the J-cells in his body had to follow the Reunion, and also couldn't prevent Sephiroth from taking over his mind and controlling him (which led to him handing Sephiroth the Black Materia...twice).

Seph wanted Cloud to question himself, question his own motives, and question his memories. Sephiroth also knew Cloud was never a SOLDIER and used that to his advantage.

If anything, Seph's actions in FFVII showed that he was still bitter that Cloud had beaten him in Nibelheim. If he hadn't gotten Cloud involved in his big plan, he might have succeeded in destroying the planet. XD

I'd like to know why Sephiroth keeps calling Cloud a traitor all the time. He says Zack and humans were traitors to Jenova in Crisis Core because he thinks Jenova was an Ancient. But he knows she wasn't in FF7 and ACC etc.
So who has Cloud betrayed? Surely to betray someone, you have to be on their side to start with and then go against them. Cloud was never on Sephiroth's side. Though I suppose as he's insane we shouldn't expect him to make much sense xD

Because Cloud is a NexGen Clone, he had zacks, sephiroths, and jenova's cells put into him. (i think)

Yet he is not controlled by sephi or jenova.

He is a traiter to the will of jenova. TADA.

Sephiroth loses his mind to put it mildly.
i have never played final fantasy 7 so i didn't expect it.
it's a good game with a great storyline and i for one like the battle system because it's almost live action which forces you to think on your feet.

I have got my fingers crossed for a remake of final fantast 7.
