The Important Missions List

I didn't see this on the web, so I made a list of the most important Missions that you want to play, and what you need from them. Missions are numbered by three numbers: First number is the category that contains the mission, second digit is the subcategory, and the last digit it to identify which exact mission it is.

RED = important items for new players
BLUE = shops
PURPLE = characters you can add to the DMW slots.
ORANGE= Punch-type materia. You need ONE to make the very deadly Costly Punch materia.
GREEN = The best items in the game
GRAY = A pretty good item

CHAPTER 2
-starts in Briefing Room

• Mission unlocked: 1-1-1

Note:
The "Ending the Wutai War" Missions must be unlocked in Chapter 2, but can't be played till Chapter 3. To Unlock, go up to the little statue right before meeting Yuffie and defeat the Wutai soldiers. See Chapter 3 below for more information




CHAPTER 3
-starts after returning from Wutai

• Missions unlocked: 5-1-1, 8-1-1
• cocky Shinra Captain in Lovelace Avenue unlocks mission 1-2-1
• Materia Room Researcher unlocks mission 8-2-1

CHAPTER 5

• Girl near Slum Park entrance unlocks 2-1-4

• City Planning Director in Shinra Lobby unlocks mission 6-2-1

Aerith Pretty Cart Materials
- optional, but must be done before agreeing to go on Sephiroth's Mission
-1st material, Walnut Wood, is gained after you catch the six Wutai spies.
- Aerith's 3rd Shinra Cart materials are rewards from the Shinra fitness tests.
Mission 1-2-6 After completion, talk to the Shinra Soldier in Loveless Street after completing mission to get Craftsman Monthly.
Mission 2-1-6 After completion, talk to the researcher in the vehicle room to get Mythril Tool.
Mission 7-1-6 After completion, talk to Shinra Soldier 3rd Class in the briefing room to get Premium Tire.




CHAPTER 10
-Escape from Mansion Basement

Additional Notes:

MAGIC POT
Magic Pots can be found during missions: 226, 254, 255, 256, 766, 1023. The first time you successfully pass the Magic Pot's test, Magic Pot will be added to the DMW. Easiest Magic Pot to pass is in Mission 10-2-3. Use Jump, Fira, Gravity, and Assault Twister.

COSTLY PUNCH
To make a costly punch, you will need to fuse two things: a DMW materia and a punch-type materia.

A DMW materia is first available in chapter 4 when you can do the Treasure Princess missions. You get a DMW materia after completing Mission 9-4-3. Although the Bone Village (Mission 7-5-3) is MUCH easier to reach once you hit chapter 5. However if you wait til chapter 10, you can easily buy one from the Research Dept. QMC+ shop.

But to get a punch-type materia requires to finish ALOT of missions. Each punch-type materia is deep inside a campaign of missions. But you should get one before you get a DMW materia unless you decided to wait till chapter 10.

THE BEST ITEMS

Genji Shield Barrier, Magic Barrier, Absorbs all elements, Nulls all statuses except Absolute Stop. Get from Magic Pot in Mission 7-6-6. Use Gil Toss, Costly Punch, 99999 Damage, and Sephiroth DMW. Advice: You must add Magic Pot to DMW before getting a Genji Shield. Charge DMW to heavenly or higher before mission. You can use curse (curse ring) to freeze a high DMW charge. (remember to un-curse yourself)

Genji Gloves Breaks Attack Limit, always critical. From Mission 9-6-4 Chest.

Genji Helm - infinite AP and MP,libra. Genji Helm is only available at the Net Shop Shade the first time you visit it. After that it disappears from the shop inventory. It costs 1 million gil and allows infinite MP and AP use (plus libra)

Genji Armor - Breaks HP Limit, Regen, Endure. Get all DMWs to 100% to receive.

Divine Slayer - HP,MP,AP+100%; Breaks HP,MP,AP to 99999; All stats +50. Reward for killing Minerva in Mission 9-6-6.

Ziedrich - STR,VIT,MAG&SPR=+100; Damage from elements -50%. From chest in Mission 9-5-6.

Heike Soul - Breaks ALL Limits, Absorbs elements, double Gil and Item from enemies, 100% steals, always rare items, auto-potion, doublecast, libra, inflict status with sword, SP Master L1, inflicts Curse. Complete all missions to receive.

Mission 9-3-4 Scarlet Pick (spider-mech) - 2 Adamantite for Item Fusion. Use Energy for easy kill.
Mission 9-4-5 Tonberry Guard - 5000 gil each; Tonberry King - 10,000 gil each.
Mission 9-6-2 Holy Tonberry - 20,000 gil each.
Mission 9-6-6 Minerva!!! - steal 99 phoenix downs. Great for selling for gil, or materia fusion. (Or use to buy dualcasts and convert for SP)

just discovered that one out.....

I forget exactly... but the 9xx mission all require you to follow the chain of missions starting with the Treasure Princess email you get in the Mako reactor chapter with Sephiroth.

The item slot, HP and damage limit breaks are available in Missions starting when you reach the church.

I just wish a mod would sticky it. The mission info is pretty important. And I haven't seen a list like it elsewhere.

To be honest, I think most of the stores are useless.

Of course buying dualcast and converting to SP is important. And buying libra and potions has it's uses. But mining the chests in Missions will give you more. Instead of raising money to buy the store items, it's better to just do missions and open chests.

But incase you are interested, 3 of the stores carry mostly materia to improve your DMW rolls. The rest mostly carry mundane treasure. Except of course Gengi Helm.

And yes, you can buy Dualcast at the Net Shop Shade. Unfortunately you have to go most of the way to Minerva to get it.
