Sephiroth - Thoughts after playing Crisis Core

Has any one's thoughts/opinions on Sephiroth change anyway after playing the game?



In my opinion, I must say that this game has giving me new found respect for him. After all, our first views of Sephiroth were of an evil, maniacal killer hell-bent on destroying the Earth so he and his Mother could rebuild the world in their vision.



So, as I asked, has any one's opinons or views chagned?

After seeing how much he genuinely cared about the things close to him, it was a realy shame to see him lose his mind. The thing is, if someone had TOLD him Jenova was not his mother, and his real mother was Lucrecia, he might have stayed sane.

Never liked him.
Never will.

Even though he isn't that strong, he is portrayed as being all powerful and such.
But at the end, someone always beats him.

Ha.
I'm not a FFvii hater.
But FFcc is not even that good.
I don't hate, but I don't like it no where as much as FFvii.
I keep posting here because there are some things I like about, and I play at times.

And bashing with unreasoned sentances?
If I'm in a discussion where I talk about no liking FFcc, or a part of it [usually with Mr Muffins], I give reasons why I don't like what ever part.

Sephiroth wasn't one of those generic bad guys who are thrown in games with the desire to destroy the world for no particular reason. He was originally quite complex and I usually like it when bad guys are like that. Seeing a game that mainly portrayed him as a good guy was great. My opinion didn't change, but more or less reminded me that he kicks ass.

That part kinda bugs me. I watched the Director interview on the AC disc and it's noted how Sephiroth never even broke a sweat in his fight against Cloud in the movie, while Cloud was struggling quite a bit. And when i thought back to it, Sephiroth sure did sound like he was doing a lot of gloating: "Give me the pleasure of taking it away. / Oh, where did you find this strength?" And so on. So why did he lose? Because that's the way the story goes. No one wants Sephiroth to seem reachable (or even mortal), but they can't just let him win. And when I say they, I mean the creators.

As for whether or not my opinion changed, yes, but not much. They explained a lot of his backdrop in VII, which I had to look into for the oodles of fanfics I wrote about him. So after exploring his story thoroghly previously, it gave me a greater respect for the amount of thought put into it. And a greater appreciation for him just for being Sephy.

You've crossed the line this time! Sephiroth is incredibly powerful and much stronger than any other character. He just must lose, because he is a villain.

I wonder if Cloud could've beaten him if it was the real Sephiroth, not the clone made inside a Mako crystal since he threw Seph into the Nibelheim Reactor's Mako pit. I mean, virtual or not, he obliterated a Mako Cannon.


Then again, the story had to have a villain that got beat, hence the Sephiroth we know. BUt there should be a fight somewhere that Sephiroth wins, but in the rematch he loses, that'd make it a bit more dramatic.
