Plothole or misunderstanding regarding Genesis? (Spoiler alert)

Okay, I just finished up Crisis Core and loved the ending. HOWEVER there is one part of the series I don't understand (you're probably saying 1 part?!). We all know this series is heavily ridden with theories and speculation. We also all know about the Final Fantasy 7 Ultimania which is the "official story" and canon information.

According to what I've read Genesis was carried away by member of the deep ground units or whoever they are. I admit I have not played Dirge of Cerberus but this question would be valid even without playing it.

What IS UP WITH GENESIS?! Hahaha, broad yes but according to what I have read Genesis was still alive after Zack's battle and declined to be part of the rebellion and sealed himself in an underwater cavern of some sort... Fine and dandy... He would come back to protect the planet in time of planetary danger... UH HELLO WHAT DO YOU CALL METEOR!? This is either a huge plothole or I missed something about Genesis's well-being or something after Crisis Core. To say he didn't know about meteor's arrival is just stupid too because he isn't fulfilling his duties not knowing about planetary danger in the first place. What am I missing on this part of the story?

and what does he have to do with doc ? im not sure if i should buy that game or not .

So if you play DoC and end the game in the "normal" way, you wouldn't see Genesis at all in it?

The only things in DoC that relate to Genesis are the three "G" reports, which very very briefly explain a bit about Genesis.
If you collect the three reports then he appears in the secret ending, and that's it. Tbh, Genesis has absolutely nothing to do with Dirge of Cerberus at all. Squeenix just wanted to stick Gackt into a scene to "look cool".

Had nothing to do with FFVII, and didn't even feel like it was a part of the FFVII world.
They also should have known that Vincent can't carry a story on his own. Heck, I'm surprised Vincent even gave a shit about the DG SOLDIERs attacking Kalm. He barely cared about the events of FFVII, let alone wanted to "save the world" on his own.

And don't even get me started on the fact that Squeenix obviously forgot that Vincent had gotten over his guilt by the end of FFVII, yet in DoC it was back again.

I don't know whether I'm annoyed or pleased that they're leaving such ridiculously large plot holes in every new release they make. One part of me is joyed as it clearly suggests to me that there's going to be more continuation into the story of Final Fantasy VII, but the other emphasizes what the series is deteriating into; bringing in famous celebrities in an attempt to give a game a backbone is a clear enough indication that the standards are declining. While they are butchering its legacy, I think I'd agree on one final game to put all of the plotholes and shoddy mysteries to rest (which I would expect to be a sequel, considering the ending of DoC) and finally a remake, as it's the only FFVII-related game the fans actually want anymore (and an accurate one at that).

Meh, I'm a sucker for the series anyway; I'll buy any game with Final Fantasy VII in the title regardless of quality, but I'd still like to see no more of its reputation tarnished.

I don't think Square would honestly bury themselves so much that every game they created was an absolutely failure, though. Like Crisis Core, it turned out to be surprisingly better than its delicious game prequel of DoC, it's just the use of new characters and plotlines that they're beginning to abuse. I guess it's quite true, though as a fan boy I'd just pray they didn't haha.

I'd rent..but well, I never do xD. I have no idea as to what gamefly is tbh, nor netflicks . All we have over here is Blockbusters, though I've not been in one ofthem for years.

Thinking it over, I'd probably be happier with another film too. However much I've criticised AC for bits here and there, it's probably the most faithful to theseries and generally rgw best sequel of the compilation they're produced, thus far.

On your mention of tacking on the story, it's not even like they're taking much care into that imo. All that seems to be on their minds right now is profit, bringing in Gackt to bring a celebrity figure into the series, attempting to release a game similar to Kingdom Hearts considering the II one's massive success, spreading the audience outwards in the form of an action shooter (and slasher) - just all screams profit.

I'd honestly just prefer a game to a series. I mean, I've been wanting a remake of the game for years, but I also doubt the series would turn out very successful, and in turn they'd opt to not do it particulary well. From a profit point of view, the series would only appeal to dedicated fans to the series and would hardly recieve much attention at all, beside us lot, bringing in little money. It just doesn't seem like they'd make something with the whole point of ammending all the shit they've created for the fans. However, if this series came with the rerelease of Final Fantasy VII or something, as a little special feature (like Last Order), that'd be much more likely imo. That, and extremely awesome.

Not having played CC yet, I can't really comment on how heavily it suggests it, but they've been keeping it fairly low for quite a while. Though, I'm a little unsure as to why they'd be in any financial low, considering FFXII was rated so highly, KHII sold buckets worth and things like Lost Odyssey haven't sold less than well (and Lost Odyssey is quite stunning), though if that's the case, I guess it's pretty fair they're playing the safe cards. Saying that though, I honestly doubt the CG series would bring them much in to aid its progress.
