PSP Media GuideThis thread has been created to guide you through the most frequently asked questions about the PSP media capabilities. It should be your first point of reference if you run into a bit of trouble with music, videos, or photos on the PSP. » PSP Compatible Music/Audio Formats Top You can save and play music/audio on your PSP in the following file formats: ........- MP3

- WAV
- WMA
» Saving Music/Audio to a Memory Stick Duo Top - Make sure there is enough available space on your Memory Stick Duo.
- If it's the first time you've used the Memory Stick Duo, you must format it or use your computer to create the proper PSP folder structure.
- Connect your Memory Stick Duo to your computer using one of the following methods:
........- Insert into the Memory Stick slot on the computer or use a Memory Stick Duo Adaptor.
- Connect a Memory Stick reader/writer with a USB cable.
- Connect your PSP, with the Memory Stick Duo inserted, with a USB cable.
- If you connected the Memory Stick Duo with a USB connection, you must activate the connection on the PSP:
........- Select "USB" under "Settings" in the home menu.
- Press X button.
- Your computer will indicate that it detects the Memory Stick Duo/PSP.
- Browse to the Memory Stick Duo/PSP on your computer.
- Copy the music/audio files from your computer into the MUSIC folder on your Memory Stick Duo.
........ - You can create subfolders inside the MUSIC folder to group tracks.1
Folders within subfolders are not recognized by the PSP and can not be viewed on the PSP.2
Remember that music/audio files must be in the correct format in order to be viewed on the PSP.
MP3 files containing expiration dates or a limited number of playbacks cannot be played on the PSP.
Memory Stick PRO Duo cards will not play or record ATRAC3 or ATRAC3plus files ordinarily. If you put them on your Memory Stick using a free Sony program called SonicStage, however, you will be able to play them. You can download SonicStage here (click on the download link in the top-right hand corner of the page).

- Add PSP compatible music files to the subfolder.
To edit a music group: - Follow the instructions for creating a music group.
- Add, delete, or move music subfolders and music files as you want.
To turn Group Mode on or off:- While a track is playing, press Triangle button to display the Music Control panel.
- To turn on Group Mode:
-- Select Group Mode icon (Group Mode) and press X icon. -- Group Mode will be turned on and the Group Mode icon will appear in the Status Icon area (lower left corner of the Playback screen).
- To turn off Group Mode:
-- While a track is playing, press Triangle button to display the Music Control panel. -- Select "Group Mode" or "Clear" from the Control Panel and press X icon.
Do not create subfolders inside of the first set of subfolders. Folders created at this level are not recognized by your PSP.

» Setting a Photo/Image as Wallpaper Top To set a photo/image as wallpaper: ........- While viewing a photo/image, press Triangle button to display the control panel.
- Select "Wallpaper" and press X button.
- Select Yes and press X bbutton to confirm your choice.
- The "Save Completed" message will appear and the wallpaper will be set.
You can only set one photo/image as wallpaper on the PSP. If you already have wallpaper set and then set a new photo/image as wallpaper, the first one will be overwritten.
To turn on or off the wallpaper display: ........- Select "Theme Settings" under "Settings" in the home menu and press X button.
- Select Wallpaper and press X button.
- Use the directional buttons to choose "Do Not Use" to turn off the wallpaper display (the default setting) or "Use" to turn on the wallpaper display, and press X button.

Which video conversion software is the best? I had a converter but I deleted it because it was taking like 6 hours just t convert a video. Is that normal?

Need help with video9. What type of OS( XP or vista ) do you need? I have Vista(stupid OS), and my computer freezes evry time I run the software or plug in my psp. AGGUHHH. So annoying.

Not too helpful on music. ^^; anyway my little brother wants music from itunes and pictures added to his psp, and I think i may have gotten his memory stick jammed in the laptop. (oops!) How do i legally get the music to the ipod, and stuff? there are no files for music on his, or anything. just games, and crap.
MPEG-4? sweet, I can upload some animations i made!

To legally get music to an iPod, you plug it in and iTunes should be able to put it on there.
