Explain to me, step by step, in noob terms, how I crack my PSP for Homebrew

Yeah, I made an entirely separate thread because I'm not getting an answer in the Homebrew thread and I'd like to get this done ASAP.
I'm an utter PSP nub, so bare with me. I have a pre-slim fat PSP, firmware is 3.71 and using the little UMD tray tut I saw the IC1003. Now, I need to know exactly what I have to do, cause I'm not sure if I need a Pandora Battery (and if I do I need this explained to me, exactly what it is, what it does, what happens, how to do it) or if I can downgrade. On top of that, I have no idea where to start, since from what I've seen the steps are like a circle, each one requires and previous one to be done and so forth, so I'd like someone to explain the exact order in which I do this. Thanks.
I haven't started "converting" my PSP, but I have one battery and a 4gb Memory Stick Pro Duo as well if those are needed.

Alright. So what's this about downgrading then?
Cause I thought the whole point of using the Pandora Battery/Magic Memory Stick thing was to get Custom Firmware on the PSP. :/
Obviously the guides I read weren't exactly clear (or I'm just an idiot).
So if I do have to do this Pandora/Magic Memory Stick crap can someone explain how I do it, and what the consequences are (someone told me it kills your battery and that you'll need a replacement. I unfortunately only have one)?

All right. You're positive I don't need a Pandora though? Cause I remember that from some of my searches they said that if you had official firmware 3.71 you needed Pandora, so I'm not really sure (although I can't recall the date of this, so it could be outdated). But let's say I don't use the Pandora and I put this stuff on my PSP, would it brick if it turned out I did need it or am I safe to test?

quote Xhizors
1. Download THIS2. Copy the EBOOT.PBP to X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE (assuming your PSP MS drive is X:) then upgrade. 3. Download THIS and follow whatever is in the readme. 4. Once you got the HEN running, download THIS and copy the UPDATE folder in the RAR file. 5. Follow the instructions, and TADA! You've got 5.00 M33-6! NOTE: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. And if you ever want to downgrade without a pandora (on a PSP with a custom firmware), you can use Hellcat's Recovery Flasher. So on my new memory stick (the 4gb), I don't have the "Game/Update" folders. On my old one (the measly 256mb) I only had a GAME folder, but no UPDATE one. :/
So should I just plug it into my computer and make the new folders myself on my 4gb stick?

Alright, so I had to make the GAME and UPDATE folder myself under J:/PSP.
Anyways, so I put EBOOT.PHP in the UPDATE folder, so now you say I need to "Upgrade". How exactly would I go about doing this and what exactly do you mean?
I'm assuming that mean when I go to the Game tab on the PSP menu, scroll to the bottom and click Memory Stick, I see PSP Update Ver. 5.03, which is what I'm guessing I'm supposed to click. :/
You can tell I'm obviously being very cautious here.

Alright, so I just the TIFF into my PSP/PHOTO folder, and then copied the h.bin into J:/
What am I supposed to do now? Disconnect my PSP from USB and do something or just go ahead and add the next thing?

Nope, this is all it says:
"System Software Version 5.03 Nickname Jesse MAC Address [address]"
Or am I supposed to move h.bin into J:/PSP instead of just J:/ cause the readme just said in the main directory.
Btw deleted my old post before I saw yours since there was basically nothing new in it, sorry.

I extracted it and one of the files is called slim_mod in the PICTURE folder which is really why I asked.
Anyways, it says "3. Open the folder of the PSP and copy the download (in the root of the MS)", so do they mean take the zip I DL'd into the J:/PSP and unpack it there?

fat.tiff? You mean the eggsploit.tiff that I added into my PHOTO folder a while ago? All it does is turn off my PSP then I turn it back on so far.

re: Explain to me, step by step, in noob terms, how I crack my PSP for Homebrew

So is my PSP supposed to turn off then back on automatically when I click the tiff (cause all it does is turn off, and I have to turn it back on manually).
And to recount, I've got the tiff (eggsploit.tiff from a RAR file) from your first post in my PHOTO folder, and the 5.00 M33-6 in my GAME/UPDATE folder. I've also got the h.bin file in my J:/ directory (not sure if I'm supposed to put it elsewhere, like J:/PSP) and I just keep going on my PSP>Photo>click eggsploit.tiff until what?

How long approximately does it take to turn itself back on? I wanna know if it's supposed to be immediate or if it takes like, 5-10 minutes or something.

I just watched this video in the other thread, and in the guy's photos he had things like ChickHENa and ChickHENd when it crashed.
Am I supposed to have those for the Phat (I think he was using slim) cause all I have is eggsploit.tiff in my photos.

What do you mean?
EDIT: This still isn't working. I'm gonna quickly take some screenies so you can see everything that I've done so far and hopefully point out my mistake.

Awesome. Funnily enough, I got it to work finally as I was clicking the tiff so I could take a screenie of it to show you.
Regardless, in my System Info it now says System Software 5.03 ChickHEN R2
What do I do now?

Alright I'm done! In my System Information it now says for System Software that I have 5.00 M33-6.
So now that I've got Custom Firmware, is there anything else I need to do to, say, play PS1 games?
And now can I delete all that crap I added onto my PSP like the tiff file, eboot and M33-6 installer?

re: Explain to me, step by step, in noob terms, how I crack my PSP for Homebrew

So I tried the first two plugins and neither of them worked. :/
I made the seplguins folder in J:\ (it's not J:\seplugins), and inside seplugins I made vsh.txt, game.txt and pops.txt.
So I put the prx files into the seplugins folder (Hold+ and FuSa) and then added the lines "ms0:\seplugins\FuSaSCR.prx ms0:\seplugins\hold.prx" into the vsh.txt and the ms0:\seplugins\FuSaSCR.prx line into the game.txt and pops.txt and neither of them work. I have a feeling that it's because I should replace ms0:\ with J:\ or what?
