Woohoo! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
|
I can't wait!
The film is gonna be great!

quote Gothic Girl
I think they should have kept the Oompa-Loompa's the same as they were in the original movie. The new ones are ... strange They have been designed to look like how they were described in the book, not the original film, as the new film is based on the book, rather than a remake of the old one... Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! --- I have to say this, alot of people say it's a remake of the 1971 film 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory', but it's not as such, this version is based more on the original book, so the theme is alot darker, stranger etc... quoteCharlie Bucket comes from a poor family, and spends most of his time dreaming about the chocolate that he loves but usually can't afford.
Things change when Willy Wonka, head of the very popular Wonka Chocolate empire, announces a contest in which five gold tickets have been hidden in chocolate bars and sent throughout the country. The kids who find the tickets will be taken on a tour of Wonka's chocolate factory and get a special glimpse of the wonders within. Charlie miraculously finds a ticket, along with four other children much naughtier than him. The tour of the factory will hold more than a few surprises for this bunch... Can someone (Dan Mumford) explain to me is this a remake or a sequel ?
Who's Charlie ? Well, it is a remake but isn't, if you know what I mean...It is a remake of the old film, but based on the original book, not the old film, because they changed alot in the old film. Charlie is the 'star' of the film, the poor boy who gets a golden ticket to the factory. One funny thing I read the other day was that Tim Burton has paid £1,000,000+ and 6 months to train 200 squirrels from birth to crack the nuts, sort them, and load them onto a conveyor belt, then spent another 10 weeks filming the scene (nut room scene), the old film didnt have animals in that scene, because they changed it from the book because they thought it was too hard to train the animals, He has built the chocolate river too, aswell as an 80ft chocolate waterfall I hope after this film they do make a sequel, to it though, because Roald Dahl did actually write a sequel book, called "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator" This message was edited by Dan Mumford on Apr 08 2005.This message was edited by Dan Mumford on Apr 08 2005.quote The Living Angelus

Willy Wonka Chocolates Relaunch With Film Tie-in By Mark Sweney
Nestle Rowntree is to resurrect its Willy Wonka chocolate range and back it with a £5m promotional blitz to cash in on Hollywood blockbuster Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Willy Wonka bars, which were axed in the UK two years ago following poor sales, will be re-introduced in three flavours: Whipple Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight, Nutty Crunch Surprise and Triple Dazzle Caramel.
The ad campaign to support the relaunch is being handled by JWT.
The range, which will be featured in the movie, will include gift products such as a cane filled with sweets, based on a prop in the film.
The Warner Bros movie, which stars Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, is tipped to be a big family hit this summer. Nestle has been heavily involved in its production, helping to create elements such as the chocolate river in Willy Wonka's factory.
The relaunch will be supported by a golden ticket promotion, based on the competition in the film that wins Charlie and the other children a trip to the chocolate factory.
Nestle already markets the Willy Wonka range in a number of international markets, including Canada and Australia.
Warner Bros has signed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory merchandising deals with several firms, including Penguin Books and Funrise Toy Corp.
Funrise holds the global toy licence and will develop play sets, action figures and games, while Penguin will rejacket the original novel, written by Roald Dahl.
Possible Jack Skellington in poster... But by the look of this figure, its just one of the sweet things... Still looks like him though... New Wallpaperquote quoteIf you wondered whether you can exect any action figures from the upcoming Tim Burton version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we can confirm that yes you can...
Funrise has the toy license for the upcoming Tim Burton version of the Roald Dahl classic, although they won't be distributing the figures in all territories.
We got to take a look at the figures in person today, and like a lot of movie lines, they were limiting press photography. However, Action-Figure were given clearance for the picture below.
The figures were sculpted by the folks at Gentle Giant, and whilst others disagreed, the protoypes I saw looked pretty darn good for Mass Market toys.
Articulation was a bit of a bane with thost featuring articulation akin to the old Vintage Star Wars line, with the inclusion of hinged elbows and knees. Still remember that this is a mass market line.
The line up will consist of:
Charlie Bucket
Willy Wonka
Veruca Salt
Violet Beauregarde
Augustus
Mike Tevee
Oompa Loompas
The figures are 6" tall and due out in time for More pictures here... http://www.ohjohnny.net/charlie/charlie14.htmlFactory Set 1Factory Set 2Factory Set 3Factory Set 4Factory Set 5Some interesting facts about the making of the Chocolate Factory 1,850 real chocolate bars were made for the film. 172,000UK gallons (206,563.48 US gallons/781.92 metric tons) of chocolate were made to create the luscious chocolate river 32,000 UK Gallons (38,430.41 US gallons/145.47 metric tons) were made to create the chocolate waterfall The lollipops that hang from the trees in the Chocolate Room are all actually real and extremely delicious 10,000 toothpaste containers, filled with watered-down wood glue, were created for the toothpaste factory scenes The pink glass boat in which Willy Wonka and the kids travel down the chocolate river measures 30 ft X 9ft and took 20 weeks to build 60 gallons of white paint were usted to paint the TV Room

I'm going to be seeing this film on Friday. It looks incredible.
I can't compare it to the old one though. I love the older one, but I know I'll adore this one especially with Jonny Depp in it. *growls*
Incredible pictures there. It makes me want to go see it now now now!

At first, his image was just gonna be copied 165 times and shrunk to 30 inches. But, Roy wanted each Oompa-Loompa to have their own personality. So, he did 165 different things.

They say it's truer to the original book, bt from what I read about it, they've modernized the characters a little. For example. in the book there's a boy who's obsessed with television, mainly cowboys and indians sort of stuff, but they've changed it. I forget how. Little things like that. I still want to see this.
