I like that move by the Penguins. Bringing in some solid veterans for their young team. I think the Penguins are becoming better and better, but I still don't know what they are going to do for a back up goalie. They don't have the cap space to get one so I guess they need to trade.

We'll probably have Nolan Schafer be our backup. Our college goalie prospects (both Hobey Baker finalists) would help out in Wilkes Barre. Maybe we'll just try to get someone like Kevin Weekes.

I like the Recchi signing. The contract has incentives so if Recchi wants his cash he must be motivated. Last season he got pretty lazy because he reached a few milestones and didn't feel like playing much. :\ I remember when he was pretty good back in December/January.

Oh shit one of my best friends got picked up by the devils in the third round. I think I need to throw a party.

Actually, I always thought I was better than him but he's got me beat when it comes to size and speed (and unfortunately, that's a big part of the game now).

Comparison:

Me: 5'9", 190lbs
Corbin: 6'4", 210lbs

Don't get me wrong, because he's a damn good player. He's smooth, strong on his feet, and incredibly tenacious. I only question his tendency to take bad penalties (he honestly reminds me exactly of Chris Pronger).

He's physically gifted, that's for sure. I'd say I'm actually quicker than he is but for a big guy he's real smooth on his feet.

Personally, I'm not sure if he's going to make it in the NHL. I'd say he'll probably get some playing time in ~5 years (as far as I know he's going to college next year, probably at DU). After college, I think he'll get his shot with Albany and if he does well we can expect to see him play in a few games.

Keep in mind that's actually a good thing in most Fantasy leagues. The Yahoo Leagues I play in award more points for more PIM. So if I ever see him getting a lot of penalties I might pick him up so tell him to keep getting them.

A handful of moves over the last couple days:
Atlanta has traded Keith Tkachuk back to St. Louis for the conditional first-round pick they gave away in the original trade. They also can re-sign Tkachuk after July 1, but that's considered unlikely. If that does happen, St. Louis gets either a 4th-round pick next year or a 3rd-round pick in '09.

St. Louis placed veteran Dallas Drake on waivers. If unclaimed, he gets 2/3 of his $1 million salary over the next 2 years.

Pittsburgh RW Michel Ouellet will be a free agent after the Pens didn't make a qualifying offer to him. He scored 48 points in 73 games last season. The move is largely for cap reasons and because he's eligible for arbitration.
