Then why did you quote the part about the west? Youre confusing me.
Tomorrow, well get a glimpse of who may be dominant in the West, as the Angels and Rangers face off.

Thatd be so cool for the Sox to lose again to the almighty Yanks <JK. Still, i think that the Yanks will actually win today, unless the Sox can manage to pull together some super offense.

Yeah, 2 BS in 2 days is not a good sign for someone like Rivera. against a potent lineup, you cant hold back opposed to pitching to a bad lineup.
Oh yeah, congrats to Chiro for becoming 25th top poster in the sports forum.

Wow, the Indians-WSox game was great, cuz the Indians scored 6 runs in the 11th inning to win the game. I never thought that a team would score 6 runs in extra innings.

I Actually was going to agree that Rivera was the best closer, but Dudeguy proved that he isnt, and you cant really refute what dudguy said. Sure, Rivera might be good, but Gagne (not Gange), Lidge, and Nathan all are really good and can close out almost any game.

Actually, i think that the Yanks aint gonna make the playoffs this year. The Sox probably will, but i doubt that they will make it all the way.

Dude, its a pred, even though i hope it doesnt happen. I dunno why i guessed that, but the Yanks probably will do better than last year. At the same time, they could do worse. Anyhoo, theyll just have a good team overload and explode, leaving them outta the playoffs.

They might, with Podsednik, theyll get a lot more RISP, which teh White Sox need, cuz they have enough power to drive any ball outta the ballpark.
Still, the Red Sox aint gonna go again. Sox fans will say it, but it aint true.

Since the Sox are your fav team Andrew, i feel that you have no right to actually say a lot of those things. Schilling really isnt all that dominant now. Every now and then, he will give up several runs, and if the Sox cant back him up with the runs he needs, the Sox will lose the game.
With Podsednik, thats why everyone likes him, he can steal so many bases. He already has 9 SB in 13 games. Last year, he got 70 SB. Thats a pretty good mark for a young guy. Hopefully, hell be able to pull up that AVG, he can support the 10+ homers that he can hit, and become a more complete player.

Like i said before, the WSox need to get more RISP for their lineup to be potent enough to score. With Podsednik, he can do all sorts of things to get on, then steal his way to 2nd. Thats how the WSox are getting to early starts, and that is how the WSox have the best record in the MLB as of this morning.

Thats why the WSox need 1-2 to get on base/in scoring position. Until they can prove that their team has some good people when it comes to AVG, they will need to make all of their hits count, and so they will need them to get farther just in case 3-5 is able to get them home. If they do that enough, and their pitching is steady, i feel that we could see a 95+ win season for the WSox.

Basically, the Sox score a lot of runs, and their pitching is above average. If you can put that together, then youll get a playoff contending team, which the White Sox have become. If they keep this up, the Twins will NOT make teh playoffs this year.

ARODS NIGHT!!!!
Tonight, after only 3 and 2/3 innings, Bartlo Colon is outta the game for the Angels because of 10 runs, 9 RBIS BY ALEX RODRIGUEZ, on a 2 run homer, a 3 run homer, and a grand slam. If he hits a solo homer, hell have a 4 homer night AND hit for the home run cycle AND have 10 RBIS!!!

Man, the Rangers have been on a tear. With a 5 gm win streak, and an Angels loss, they have now tied for 1st in the AL West. Their pitching really isnt too good, but it is revived by their offensive power. Thats why ive got 5 Ranger hitters on my fantasy team.

Dude, i still get hits, and not all my guys are on the Rangers. We should probably talk about this in the "given" thread.
Anyhoo, that Royals and Angels game yesterday was crazy. 9 runs in teh 9th combined, with a weird inside the park homer, and a McPhearson homer in the 10th to win it 9-8.

How about that?
The White Sox are one of the best teams right now. After getting killed by the Rangers today, they have been swept by teh Texas Rangers.
The Baltimore Orioles are the leaders of the AL East oddly. After getting kicked by the Tigers today, they have been swept by the Tigers.....

Damasco didnt pitch. After Buerle, it was Marte, who had 2 saves in the year. But he didnt do as well, giving up 2 singles and a walk, so he was followed by Politte.

Now, after thinking theyd go 80-82 in the season, now i think the Yanks probably will win AT LEAST 85 games. Theyve been on fire, and its a great sight to see dominant players finally winning.

Now how about them Rangers?
Winning 8 straight, they hold the division lead in the West. Technically, they are tied with teh Angels in games, but they are % points ahead, and based on the pitchers, figure to win tonight.

Who are the Ms? If you say Seatle, im get real mad.

Still, Boston's pitching is quite more dominant than NYs, but it may not win the division for Boston.

LOL, players sure try many things to keep ball fair. I was watching the WSox-Tribe game and Carl Everett hit a huge blast, but foul. But when he was trying to point the ball fair, he appeared to have poked the umpires eye. Not really anything important, but still kinda funny.

Yeah dude, i want a lot more.
Remember that they still play 13 against eachother, and a lot can happen throughout that span. Unless the Angels can win most of them.
Also, keep in mind that both teams still play a heck lotta games against teams in teh Central, and based on the standings, the Rangers do have a huge advantage there.
Oh yeah, i think that Tyranitar is kinda young cuz based on his name, you can tell that he still likes Pokemon/Yugioh or whatever kids game it is.
BTW, the Rangers also have players.

Oo... four straight mocking posts. Not that good.
Cuz Tyranitar, if you thought more, you could have reasons, but you seem too elusive in your posts. Eg: We poke you and you leave.
Now, the Rangers ARE only 1.5 back, so who knows what will happen. The only difference is that the Angels win by 1 or 2 each night and the Rangers blow out the other team each night (won by 7 yesterday).

But the only problem with trading Zito is that Beane has stated that he does not want to trade Zito.
Other than Zito, their only good pitchers would probably be Street, Harden, Haren, and Duchscherer. Also, the As have lost Mulder and Hudson, so i think they want to keep some portion of their 3 headed monster, now reduced to one person.
But i think that their second option would be to trade Chavez. Many teams are interested in him and i feel that they could get a good pitcher or another decent bat by trading him.

They are basically from one division.
Varitek, Ortiz, Ramirez, and *Damon from teh Sox
Sheff, ARod, *GIAMBI, Jeter, and Martinez (WTH!!!) from teh Yanks
Roberts, Tejada, *Mora, Palmeiro, from the Os
13 guys from 3 teams? You gotta be kidding me.

LOL!!!! Look at the current tallies. Neither of teh three teams even has anyone on teh standings.
For Toronto, itd probably have to be Vernon Wells. The only problem is that i dont know how many votes he has cuz hes not on teh darn standings. Hinskes avg is why he aint getting there.
For Tampa Bay, maybe Carl Crawford. Hes 3rd in teh AL in SB, and might put on the show. The only problem is that #1 and #2 (Pod with 38, Figgins with 20+) are ahead of him. Another option could be Aubrey Huff. But his avg and homers will kill him.
For Kansas City, probably Mike Sweeney. The only problem is that he isnt on the darn standings either, and i doubt hell get in as a DH (Ortiz is winning by 1.5 mil votes). But i have a prediction; Mark Teahen, an All Star in a million years.

Ah yes. The A's (teh is on for the NL thread) were once contenders with their 3 headed monsters. But now, they dont have that, and their offense is still behind and the As just need more hitting. If they can get that, they will be contenders soon.

Yeah, its good enough to be the starter for the NL.
Man, the Rangers are just pounding the Angels today. 18-3, with 8 homers, which tie a franchise record.
And you know what that means, right Dudeguy? 9 for 17, 10 runs, 6 homers, and 10 rbi, and i should be leading you 7-2 by tomorrow.

At least hes starting to pick it up, with a 15 game hit streak with 5 homers in the 15 games. Well now, Oakland is starting to pick it up. With a 7 game winning streak, they are finally 9 games back of the Angels. I say now, 70% chance that the Angels win the division, would have been more if their team wasnt injury prone.

The reason its 20 is cuz its technically only 4 for Rogers, cuz he only starts once every 5 games.
And why dont you want Rogers to start? Do you hate him?

Varitek and #5 for Isringhausen, Rogers for Lee. I didnt trade Izzy for Rogers. And since ive basically traded Izzy for a #5, a #6, and Kevin Mench, its all good for me. And Lee isnt too good of a pitcher yet, so i dont really care.
I obviously got the better side. And look, my teams better than yours, even with less talent cuz of the picks ive gotten.

Actually, Baez is pretty good. The only problem is that his team isnt too good, and thats the only thing keeping him back. With the selections, Francona picked 3 reserves, and 3 pitchers. quoteThey cant drop Beltre Whoops, i just went crazy there. Kinda weird that i said drop or release, cuz they wouldnt do that. Mariners Cut Boonequote Fox Sports
The second baseman, a 12-year veteran with 252 homers, was designated for assignment. Seattle has 10 days to trade him or put him on waivers.
"It's tough. I was looking at it, and I think it's all for the better," Bret Boone said in a press conference after he was cut by the Mariners. (jim Bryant / Associated Press)
Boone, 36, is hitting .231 with seven homers and 34 RBIs. He was benched for four games two weeks ago to work on his swing with batting instructor Don Baylor. On his return, he played well during a three-game series in San Diego, but manager Mike Hargrove said Sunday that "he has reverted back to where he was before."
Seattle is responsible for the remainder of his $8.25 million salary this year. Boone talked to his teammates after the game, then spoke with reporters.
"There was no anger. It was kind of sad," Boone said. "Once it happened, I went home. I just wanted to collect myself and watch and think about what happened. I want to go get a fresh start somewhere. I want to win."
He added that he wants to go to a team where he'll be an everyday player.
Boone hit .331 in 2001 with 37 home runs and 141 RBIs. He finished third in the AL MVP vote behind Oakland's Jason Giambi and the winner, teammate Ichiro Suzuki.
"I'm very disappointed on how I've played to this point," Boone said. "Sometimes change is good. It lights a spark and you get back to being more like your self. It's just time."
General manager Bill Bavasi said the10-day period to deal with Boone "was to put a deadline on ourselves as well as anyone who has interest in him."
"People mistake designating a player as a loss of leverage," Bavasi said. "You have to evaluate the leverage you had. A deadline applies some sort of leverage. I don't want to say we are hopeful of making a deal that significantly improves this club. Our goal right now is to make as fair a deal as we can make and find a place where he can play every day."
Bavasi said that he had talked to several clubs about potential trades involving Boone. He said he had the makings of a deal a week ago "but it didn't have legs."
"We had some decent discussions but as you know very little happens in baseball without a deadline," he said. "We felt a change was in order. We want to get better every day. We want to improve our club right now. It's as much as getting Jose Lopez on the club as it was to designate Bret Boone for assignment."
Bavasi said that Boone was "very, very professional" when told the news two hours before Sunday's 2-1 win over Texas. Boone's father, Bob, and grandfather, Ray, were both major leaguers.
"He understands the business," Bavasi said. "That's not to say he was happy about it. He likes Seattle. He has had a lot of good times here. So it's difficult."
Shortstop Jose Lopez and outfielder Chris Snelling were recalled from Triple-A Tacoma, and infielder Dave Hansen was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an inflamed elbow.
Lopez was hitting .264 with four home runs and 11 RBIs for Tacoma. He had missed the first six weeks of the season after surgery to repair a broken bone in his left hand. While Boone was benched, Lopez played second for the Mariners and hit .250 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs in six games. He was sent back to Tacoma after Boone returned to the starting role. Wow. Thats the only thing i can say, as well as that the Mariners really want to win now.

Cuz whats so surprising is how the Yanks waste their money so much. Their payroll is at least 2x that of any team in the majors save the Sox. But they just waste too much on random guys that just arent getting it done at all. Its about time that the Yanks pay for their carelessness.

Actually, should the Cards and Sox meet in teh Series again, i thik that it will come down to who wins the All Star game. If teh AL wins it, then the Sox would win the series, and same for the Cards should win the series (which we all know wont happen).

Na, but he still deserves to be there. The only reason that he shouldnt pitch is cuz everyone will boo him and stuff like that.
But remember that the AL team is packed with offense. Eckstein? Piazza? Those guys aint close to being masters in offense, but the ALs got Tejada, Roberts, Ortiz, Ramirez, Damon, Rodriguez, Texeira, Guerrero, and the guys that can really punch the ball.

Liar, i just checked. Pod is tied for 44th in runs in the Majors.
I dont care what you say anyhoo. Hes got a heck lot more SB this year, he is helping the team, regardless of teh amount of runs he scores, and his average is like 60 points higher than last year. You probably couldnt find a better guy than him for the Final Vote.

I dont see any difference. The only things that Hunter or Crawford leads Pod in is runs, homers, and RBI. Pod leads both in average, SB of course, walks, OBP, and less strikeouts. I think Pod is the season choice, but Crawford if he was having a better year.

Adrian aint helping the Mariners dude. They are still in last place and probably will not even get to 2nd by the season's end. Unless Adrian can basically get the Mariners a 60-19 record for the last 79 games of teh season, bye bye playoffs.
TRADE Red Sox get Alex Cora
Indians get Ramon Vasquez (Designated for assignment, Brian Tallet called up)

But we arent talking about Vlad. We are talking about Pod. Now although he aint the best guy in homers or that kinda stuff, hes still handy in avg, SB, OBP, and that kinda stuff. Of course you could make an argument for Crawford or Jeter, the fans voted in Pod.

After yesterdays start, i think he should start. Itd be cool if we could see a Cardinal-Red Sox matchup, but that aint gonna happen.
With Cora going to Boston, you think that will make Cora do better? Cuz he barely has a 200 average this season.

Rafael Betancourt hit with 10 gm suspensionBut the funny part is that he probably wont have to serve it, because he is on the DL. And the suspension starts immediately, so after hes off the DL, he might have like 3 games left to serve... Thats stupid.... quote MLB.com
NEW YORK -- Reliever Rafael Betancourt has run afoul of baseball's drug-testing policy and has been handed a league-mandated 10-day suspension, Indians general manager Mark Shapiro announced on Friday.
Betancourt, 30, is the first Indians player to test positive for use of banned substances. He is on the 15-day disabled list. His suspension, which started immediately, can run concurrently.
"The Cleveland Indians strongly support Major League Baseball's testing program for performance-enhancing drugs," Shapiro said in a statement. "In addition to this support, we continue to implement an aggressive educational program at the Major and Minor League levels.
"We want our players to be aware of the short- and long-term dangers of these substances."
Shapiro announced Betancourt's suspension after the clubhouse had closed before the start of their Friday night game with the Yankees. Players, including union representative Jody Gerut, were unavailable for comment.
Before going on the DL last Sunday, Betancourt had appeared in 29 games for the Tribe, and had a 2-2 record with a 2.21 ERA.
Since the policy went into effect, Betancourt would be the third Major League player to test positive for steroids or performance-enhancing drugs. (The others are Twins reliever Juan Rincon and Devil Rays outfielder Alex Sanchez.)
In a written statement, Betancourt, who will lose 10 days' pay, vowed to appeal the suspension.
"I am very angry and disappointed with Major League Baseball's decision to suspend me," Betancourt said in his statement. "I am going to file a grievance to clear my name. I am very sorry if this has caused any embarrassment and I apologize to my family, the Cleveland Indians organization, my teammates and all the fans.
"I look forward to resolving this matter and returning to the Indians as soon as possible."
Commissioner Bud Selig and the 30 team owners have gone on record as saying that they want to root steroids from the sport. Selig has pushed for tougher penalties, even for first-time offenders like Betancourt.
Selig has proposed a 50-game suspension for the first offense, 100 games for a second offense and a lifetime ban for a third.
Under his proposal, amphetamines would also be on the testing list, and players would be subject to increased random testing. An independent party would be hired to oversee the entire drug-testing program.
"Both [at] the executive council and at the meeting of the 30 clubs, everyone felt very strongly about this," Selig previously told MLB.com. "They wanted to show that in this particular group, there never has been equivocation and there isn't now. We had a very long and detailed discussion. And out of it came the resolution, first passed by the council and then the clubs."
Union chief Donald Fehr has said that the union would be willing to talk about the proposal.

Well, heading into the all-star break, my Seattle Mariners are riding a four-game winning streak. Oh, and how did they get those wins? By completely beating the shit out of the Angels, and taking ALL FOUR games from them.
Oh yeah, screw you Anaheim, I hate every single player on that team, along with your crooked as *bleep* manager. Yeah, may the Angels lose every game they every play. GO MARINERS!!!!!!!! 33 runs and 47 hits is a nice way to beat up the Angels.

Wow, first time ive seen a dude like the two teams in the cities next to eachother. Total chaos.
And i know the Rangers pitching blows. But their offense is what got me 15 homers last week in baseball and i hope to see that continue. Their batters cant hope to compare against the likes of Teixeira, Blalock, Soriano, and all those guys. If the A's win 3 of 4, i will be really surprised.
BTW, my prediction, split series 2-2.

Keep an eye on Rich Harden of the As. He has pitched 7 perfect innings so far against the Rangers. BOT 7, 6-0 Athletics.
Update: He gave up a single to Soriano, so no perfect game, but he was perfect through 7 and 1/3 innings. A nice outing for him.

When the *bleep* did Al Leiter get traded to the Yanks? I totally missed that, and let me guess, they just gave away a couple of crappy prospects that they'll never need to get him? The Yanks will give a player to be named. The trade was on Saturday, and he started on Sunday.
