Well sometimes taking one for the team can score a run or two.

So now we go to the 9th and the Yanks have a one run lead, but then again, the Sox hit Rivera, so nothing but drama with these two teams.

The Sox have always hit well against him. Also I noticed Mariano was VERY tentative and pitching scared. You cannot pitch against a lineup like Boston throws out there if you are scared to throw your pitches.

Anyway, I am not worried about Rivera. I think its just the beginning of the season and he will be fine. I think that Red Sox fans feel good about not only not getting swept the first three games of the season, but also about getting to Rivera again. Hey sometimes thats just the way the balls fall. If A-Rod makes the play at third, the Yankess may have gotten out of the inning, either with a double play or at least getting the out at home, which gives the game a whole different feel, with two outs in the 9th and the Yankees (at that point) still having a 1 run lead.

Still, if I was a Red Sox fan I would be VERY HAPPY about this game, because from their perspective, anyone can win a series.

I think this is going to be one awesome season!

Yeah Bamman, as much as I hate to admit it, you're right. It is more so in the last year actually. I think the Red Sox have always hit Mariano just a little better than everyone else in the league, but it has really become a lot more pronouned in the last year, to the point that I actually think that the Red Sox seem to have solved him. It could be an age issue, but I doubt it. I think the Red Sox (at least this particular team) are basically too stupid to know that he is unhittable and they could give a rats about his rep, and so they just hit him. The same is true for the ALCS last year. This Red Sox team was just too stupid to know that you cannot come back from a 3-0 deficit in the Playoffs.

I guess stupidity is a virtue when I think about it in retrospect eh buddy?
