Hey screw you! Yet you're completely right, I've lived here long enough to notice that. *Laughs* Well it's been empty since the disbanding since 97' a world series team..poof...gone to cash. Anyways, this is the start of a legacy, where the fans can have more faith now. Where boston fans, are pretty stubborn when it comes to cheering on your team...or perhaps is because of Jimmy fallon's Noma routine. Hell, I kept saying noma all throughout school last year.

EDIT: Look at the bright side Chiro..at least they're not blaming it on some random fan...

ChiroVette, you still have doubts that Boston has the best fans? How about this... Red Sox ticket prices are the highest in all of MLB, and we still consistently sell out every game at Fenway. Does any other team call their fan base 'Red Sox Nation'? When we travel to places like Tampa Bay or Toronto, it's like Fenway Park part two, there are more BoSox fans there than Devil Ray or Blue Jay fans. Not even New York can touch Boston's fans, probably because we're not for sale.

Also, everyone should be aware that there are no real hard feelings between Chiro and myself, we're still pals.

Because I am just messing with you man. I posted in another thread earlier today about Boston and the fans. I love visiting Boston and talking a little trash with the fans while I am there. I know it doesn't always come across in posts because of the nature of text, but it is actually very good natured. I was up in Boston just before the ALCS started and the truth is that while there was a lot of kidding back and forth the people of Boston were very respectful of NY and the fans. I mean in the end, sooner or later the Red Sox are going to get to the WOrld series again, whether they go through the Yankees or someone else to do it. And when that happens I have to be honest and say that I will root for the Sox, all trash talking and back and forth ribbing aside, I would like nothing more than to see the celebration in Beantown when the Sox finally win it. I think it would probably be a lot like NY City in 1994 when the Rangers finally won the Stanley Cup after 54 years, only probably more intense because you guys have waited for about a lot longer than the Rangers did.

There is a great Steak house right near the Boston Commons, that is reputed to be the BEST in Boston. (I took a date there while I was up there last time) and I can't remember the name. The food was just insanely great! They had a rich, HOT chocolate desert with Vanilla Ice cream on it called something like a Volcano. I should dig through my credit card receipts from two weeks ago because you probably know the place! When the Sox win it, I'll buy you a Filet Mignon, deal?

I love the Harbor! (Hah-ba) Funny thing is that Boston, being a port City reminds me a lot of a small NY City. The food, hang outs, tours and the people are cool. I just pored through my credit card receipts from the trip and I can't find the one for this restaurant. Definitely one of the better places I ate at in Boston. Ah well I will have to wait till I get my monthly statement LOL.

LOL deeplove. Actually regardless of the outcome of this World Series and even if the MArlins win ten Championships in a row, the Red Sox are a Professional Sports Icon and no way in hell is a team as new as the Florida Marlins going to be better known that the Sox.

Oh and my prediction? Yanks in 6!

Yeah I really do look forward to this series and I love the way the Yankees and Marlins match up. I am not talking about as a Yankee fan but as a Baseball fan. They are both excellent teams.



Marlins Advantages:

-Nobody except Marlins fans expect them to win and this might give them a psychological advantage over the Yanks.

-Younger team, might be more hungry than the Yanks (but this can work against them too as the Yanks have experience)

-Better middle relief.

-Slight edge with speed on the bases

-Whole team has an extra day's rest.

-Yankee's used almost the entire staff, including tomorrow's Starter David Wells yesterday.

-Mariano Rivera may not be available to close game I if the Yanks take a lead into the 9th since he pitched three innings last night.


Yankee advantages:

-Experience. This team and the core nucleus are old pro's in the Post Season and are a proven force to be reckoned with. But this might give FLA an advantage being a younger and possibly hungrier team.

-Home Field advantage in the extra game.

-Starting Pitching

-Best Closer

-Joe Torrie is a Phenomenal Post season manager.

-The DH in the extra game.

-Yankees are a more experienced (not better) hitting team and the Yanks are likely to be more relaxed and patient at the plate. I think the Yanks will make the pitchers work harder and go deeper into the counts.

-Yankee Mystique! Sorry but even if this is just superstition it CANNOT be ignored. The Yankees are an intimidating team to play against in the Post Season any way you slice it, whether you attribute this to "magic" or just the powerful history being an intimidation factor.



Even matchup:

-Both teams can REALLY hit the ball so that's a dead heat I think

-Both teams are SMART baserunners though as I said a slight speed advantage goes to the Marlins.

-Both teams are very solid defensively, in the field.

-Both teams have great momentum from a DRAMATIC game 7 win.
