Four different teams and months of negotiations are over, as it was confirmed earlier this evening that Dwight Howard has been traded to the LA Lakers as part of a four-team deal.

Quite the trade; according to what I've read the Lakers get Dwight Howard, the Denver Nuggets get Andre Iguodala, the 76ers get Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, and the Orlando Magic get Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vujecic, and a future first-round pick from the three other teams involved in this trade.

Great for Lakers fans. Wonder if he'll sign an extension. I can't see it not happening. I doubt "not wanting to follow in Shaq's footsteps" is a good enough reason to leave a franchise like that Lakers!

shame to see this had to come to a point where it it's considered breaking news. he pretty much took the heat off lebron with this stint... no pun intended. man were those memes becoming obnoxious.

Good deal for the Sixers... *bleep*in A. And Nash was enough to pull me back on the Laker bandwagon, so now I'm game. Interest in both conferences raised.

Yes, this x 1000. Jesus @ giving up the best player and getting the worst return. Afflalo and Harrington have J-Rich level bad contracts and Orlando takes them back? I agree with absolutely trying to tank for the 2013 draft but you don't take back any bad contracts, just stupid.

Orlando, it's been real but after 18 years of fan hood, it's over. I'm supporting my local team, the Knicks, full time. The Orlando management is just unbearable, I can't take it anymore.

In all fairness, Afflalo and Harrington are both young, underrated players. People who play fantasy should know, they pull down big numbers consistently. With that being said, Howard is the Mac daddy of any fantasy team, so the trade is still a little lopsided, but I think Afflalo and Al deserve more recognition, they have what it takes to make the Magic a not so shitty team, hell Afflalo was a starter on the Nugs, Al a sixth man only because of Gallanari, so they're still two perfectly healthy, young starters for the Magic.

Howard was the backbone of the Magic, that's for sure, but whose to say that was even a good thing? They depended on him too much, no one player should carry that heavy of a load for any team. The way I see it, the Magic have a good opportunity to rebuild their team from scratch.

Howard isn't signing an extension with the Lakers, he's already said this. With Nash and Kobe both fossils and Howard only in for one year, it's a very small window to win one championship. I just don't see it happening, the Thunder and Heat are both younger and have the talent to compete with the Lakers.

Magic are in pure rebuilding mode now, expect a top 5 lottery pick and then drafting a potential star.

I mean, I should be really happy.. but I'm not. I hated the Miami heat for the same exact reason. We are buying our way to the Finals. I'm not a fan of super teams at all.

But I guess once the season progresses my guilt will turn to excitement. Now lets work on that bench.

I don't see why you shouldn't be happy. Lakers weren't the first to do this, hell Miami weren't either. And honestly people talk about sudden "super team" status... Howard is better than Bynum but by how much? Howard has always been a superstar center while Bynum's been improving in strides. Gasol delivers here and there but isn't playing like he used to.

Unlike the Heat, it's not like Howard and Nash signed some six-year contract. With Howard keeping it short-term, this lineup we see here might not even look close to what it is now by the time 2013-14 season rolls around.

Unlike the Heat, Kobe and Nash are well into their thirties... this is more like a Boston Celtics pairing if anything.
