nba Team of the Week: Miami Heat

In the second season of LeBron James' tenure in a Heat uniform, he led them to their second NBA championship. After posting a 46-20 record during the regular season, good enough for the second seed in the East playoffs, the Heat and specifically LeBron finally got the monkey off his back by proving to everyone he can lead a team to a title. It was a well deserved Finals MVP for James who was clearly playing at another level the entire series. It should be interesting to see what they can do next season and how teams like the Bulls and Thunder will bounce back as potential deterrents to a repeat title.

Honorable Mentions:

Arizona Wildcats for winning their first CWS title since 1986. They beat out 2 time defending champion South Carolina 2 games to none in the championship best of 3 series in Omaha.

They played more physical/aggressive ball than OKC, plain and simple.

Lebron was as effective on defense as he was on offense, successfully guarding all the positions on the floor. Scoring around the perimeter, shutting down inside and his post game were superb, don't pay attention to trolls like Skip Bayless who will find some stat about his jump shot % being below that of a teammate. Plus his passing game was unbelievable, he was always able to find the open man when he needed. I'm a Bulls fan but I can respect the spectacular playoff performance Lebron put on, good basketball is good basketball.

Miami will definitely be Chicago's biggest problem next season. Let's hope Rose stays healthy, Based Deng remains based, and that Boozer shows up to play.

Exactly, gotta give credit where credit is due. LeBron stepped up this year and shut everyone up.. for now.

Also, if Ray Allen goes to Miami, I won't be surprised. Just because he won one ring doesn't mean that's the only one he wants.

I wouldn't be mad at him if he did. It'd be funny to watch the Heat dump Mike Miller's worthless ass like yesterday's trash if they did get Ray. *bleep* Mike Miller.

Agreed with the sentiments for Jesus Shuttlesworth. He already got his ring so he doesn't need to follow in the footsteps of Hall-of-Famers who tried jumping on contenders the last season of their careers (plenty of those that everyone dislikes). He's getting surgery on both his ankles so I'm guessing he wants to keep playing.

I just don't see why people think he shouldn't join them. He wants another ring. Simple as that. Btw, multiple reports have him going to Miami almost definitely.

There's a difference between winning a championship like he did with the Celtics and then riding everyone else's coat tails to a championship like he would be doing in Miami. Thats why. Theres a certain level of dignity that goes along with that. Like I said, I wouldn't be mad at him. Still, if I was a professional athlete, the last thing I would ever do would be to ride another team's coat tails to a title. I would have too much pride in myself for that.

Best team in the world. I woke up still hungover on Saturday, that's how crazy my Thursday was.
