Chicago hires Kompon to be their assistant coach. He was the assistant in LA and he was also with Q back in the St Louis Blues days. So now Q has two of his buddies (kitchen and kompon) that are god awful coaches in every way possible.

Jets are working out a possible 6 year deal with Evander Kane. Great decision there tbh.

NHL offered a middle finger to the NHLPA, with a proposal that would cut player revenues 11%, 5-year max contracts and wait 10 years before they can become UFAs.

They're meeting again tomorrow.

That might as well have been two middle fingers in my view. The NHLPA have the worst deal out of the Big 4 as of the last CBA, and if the NHL continues down this road, I wouldn't be surprised if an Anti-Trust lawsuit came out of this. Furthermore, I don't think the NHLPA would be as willing to settle an Anti-Trust case as the NFL and NBA were able to--in other words the case would go the distance by my estimations.

I'm glad, I didn't want Nash. The price was always going to be enormously steep considering he's a division rival, and even if we weren't in the same division the asking price would likely have been too high. Nash is good, but no way is he worth giving up those guys for.

Tbh, if we really do want to hunt down a big name forward, I'd be hoping we can grab either Doan or Semin from free agency, or if we do want to trade then go for Ryan. I think Ryan is a much better option than Nash; younger player, smaller cap hit, cheaper asking price and I think he'd fit into the Detroit system better than Nash.

EDIT: XD, just realised those are basically the only big name forwards left. Oh well...



Apparently Weber has signed a 14 year, $100 million offer sheet with the Flyers. If people weren't sure whether he wanted to stay in Nashville or not after Suter left I think that sends a pretty clear message. Can't see the Preds not matching though...

Holy shit. 14 *bleep*ing years. Poor Nashville. Left with nothing now. All they have is Rinne.

Good. The West teams have always been pretty close. Maybe now some of our East teams will step it up.
