Chad, reading that reminded me of when Jeff Locke was drafted by the Atlanta Braves back in 2006--he graduated from the same High School that I graduated from, but two years after I did. He's a pitcher, btw. The hope has always been that he'll do well; he even made a few appearances for the Pittsburgh Pirates towards the end of last season.
The only thing that went right for Boston tonight was the Red Sox avoiding a sweep by the Baltimore Orioles, winning the final game of their 3-game series 7-0. Baltimore's starter Brian Matusz didn't have it tonight, whereas Clay Buchholz threw a Complete Game Shutout.
But there won't be any rest for the weary, as Friday night the Washington Nationals open a 3-game set at Fenway Park with Stephen Strasburg getting the start for the Nationals. This should be an interesting game to watch.
EDIT: As expected, Strasburg was brilliant, striking out 13 in six innings pitched. It took him 119 pitches to get there, a new career high, and a Nationals team high for pitches thrown in a start.
I would
love to see Stephen Strasburg in a Red Sox uniform. Call it a pipe dream.
