I was in the car all day today and missed the final round, haven't caught any highlights either. So Johnson ground his club into a "cosmetic" bunker on the 18th? What a crock. I understand the observance of certain rules is what makes golf...well, golf, but if the movement of his club didn't help his lie, why the *bleep* does it matter? That's a spirit of the law/letter of the law distinction that really needs to be made on the 72nd hole of a major championship, if you ask me. The guy got booted out of the top 5 because of a stupid rule. He didn't get shafted out of a Ryder Cup spot because of that did he?

McIlroy got over his second round yips yesterday, but I'm interested to see how he'll do with a lead at the Masters going into the weekend. We all remember that catastrophic blow up at The Open last July, and with Tiger breathing down his neck (I hope!) it'll be interesting, to say the least, to see how the kid responds. And, yes, I can say kid because the bastard is almost two years younger than me. Thanks for reminding me of my own lack of accomplishment, ass.

Seriously, though, would love to see McIlroy get a Major under his belt, so the golf world can talk about the next young phenom. It would be great if he, Tiger and Phil could mix it up over the next couple of years. I'd also like to see McDowell get back in the conversation, he looked pretty pitiful playing with the surging Tiger yesterday but I'm hoping he can be competitive again in the other majors. He was fun to watch last summer.

I'm going to wait to see how people move this afternoon. As the commentators were saying a moment ago, the players around 3 under (like Yang) need to put McIlroy out of their minds, hit a few good shots, and simply stay the course. Who knows what's going to happen weather-wise and in terms of the more difficult hole locations that are coming tomorrow and Sunday. I certainly want to see McIlroy win the title. The back nine of the Masters was difficult to watch just because Rory seems like a great, down-to-earth guy that deserves reward for his hard work. But I don't see his lead as insurmountable in the slightest.

I have to work this weekend. >_< Gonna miss most of the action tomorrow and Sunday. Hopefully they're still playing when I get home on Sunday night. Wish I still had a job like I did a few summers ago when I could follow the action online in the office.

I'm not sure you can call two major tournament champions "dark horses." Especially not McDowell, who's proven he can hang in U.S. Open championship play.

I don't think anyone's going to catch Tiger. He's just hitting the ball too well right now and his focus is zeroed in. I think he'll make a move tomorrow that will put the others out of reach going into Sunday.

Having said that, I'd love to see Jim Furyk hold that trophy again. Guy's just a steady player that has a fantastic head on his shoulders. If Tiger and the field falter this weekend, I think Furyk's got the ice water in his veins to pull it out.
