	Log in to remove this sponsored message --=[OFFICIAL SITE]=-- Bellator Fighting Championships (Bellator) is a mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion based in the United States. "Bellator," which is Latin for "Warrior," was the first MMA promotion to provide direct access to the Hispanic market by utilizing Spanish ring announcing and commentary plus Hispanic talent. Its events are organized into seasons with each event hosting the rounds of championship knockout tournaments for four weight divisions. Bellator broadcasts its fights nationally in the United States through an exclusive television agreement with ESPN Deportes. Bellator will also be broadcast to countries around the world through a collection of broadcast agreements. Due to its success in its first season, Bellator will return for a second season on April 8, 2010 with a bigger audience on NBC, FOX Sports Net, Telemundo, and The Score. CEO Bjorn Rebney has also said he would like to get it on pay-per-view. Rules Bellator employs the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, with one minor alteration for the first two rounds of the tournament, where elbows to the head are not allowed. Unlike most promotions which use a polygonal cage, Bellator Fighting Championships use a circular cage. Weight divisions For its Tournaments, Bellator currently uses four weight classes under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts: Featherweight: 136 to 145 pounds (61 to 66 kg) Lightweight: 146 to 155 pounds (67 to 70 kg) Welterweight: 156 to 170 pounds (71 to 77 kg) Middleweight: 171 to 185 pounds (78 to 84 kg) Bellator has also held bouts at one lower and two higher weight classes: Bantamweight: 126 to 135 pounds (58 to 61 kg) Light Heavyweight: 186 to 205 pounds (79 to 93 kg) Heavyweight: 206 to 265 pounds (94 to 120 kg) Tournament Rules/Regulations: In the first season each tournament winner would be able to earn up to $175,000 for three wins. Fighters eliminated from tournament competition would also be compensated, with opening-round winners receiving $25,000, semifinalists getting $50,000, and finalists netting $100,000. Non-tournament bouts and female fights were also promoted in the first season. For the second season Bellator changed the accumulated winnings from $175,000 to $100,000. 	I'm catching the replay of Bellator 13 right now (which marks the start of "Season 2"), and all I can say is I'm hooked on this promotion. Really love seeing a new, and actually decent Tournament promotion around these days. I missed the original broadcast the other night, but saw it was getting replayed at 3am () so I opted to stay up and watch it. Glad I did. All the fights I've seen have been pretty damn good. Loved the Roger Huerta and Chad Hinton bout. Next tournament is the 15th, and now that I know when FSN plays this, I'll be able to catch it when it's initially airs and not have to look for some random ass late night replay of it. Retired the other thread; too jumbled with random shit all over the place. Made a proper looking discussion thread instead. -------------------

	Nice Ottawa Senators logo This show is on too frequently for me to keep up with since there's a lot of Florida teams on FSN here, but I like the concept of the lighter weight classes having tournaments. I'll try to check it out sometime. The drastic cut in earnings from tournaments isn't the best sign of financial hope, however. ------------------- Finished with the Neoseeker forums.

	Non-surprise news of the day: Paulo Filho is off his non-title superfight against Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard this Thursday. "Visa issues" or so he claims. If a Twitter post from Josh Gross is legit, Jay Silva is the replacement.

	My only problem with Bellator is it comes on waaaay too late. Plus it's never consistent when they decide to air it. Though at least FSN started the broadcast at midnight and it ran until 2am, instead of starting it at 3am like they've done before. =/ Worth staying up for it to see that Hector Lombard vs Jay Silva match. 0:06 of Round 1, lmao! 	In addition to last night's results (Joe Soto won his superfight and Askren beat Thomas again, this tiem by non-controversial decision), Bellator also announced a women's tournament for season 3 (115) and the signing of Rosi Sexton to an exclusive deal. No word on if Sexton's in the tourney as she usually fights at 125 but has recently dropped to 115, but it's considered likely.
