Might as well get used to that. quote Final Blade
Vulcan, I don't know how many games Lisin played, but I sure as hell watched ALL 89 games of the rangers which includes the playoffs, and Korpikoski didn't play that much, But when he did he was pretty good for us.
The fact I just listened to Boomer and Carton this morning saying that wasn't a good trade at all, been to a few rangers site and none of them was too happy. I don't visit your forums where most of the "ranger" fans was circle jerking when Gomez got traded, nor do I know their opinions, but as far as I know alot of rangers fans wasn't impressed. Even the facebook rangers group wasn't happy about the pickup as we was hoping Korpikoski would return.
Fact is we haven't gotten anyone great from trading to Pheonix. Now, I'm not dissing Don Maloney as it seems most of the players he scouted for are going directly to his team, but Sjostrom was probably the only player we got from Coyotes the fans liked. Or the fans I speak to. But he's gone, the other guy we picked up alonside Sjostrom went at the end of the season when we traded for them for Al Montoya and Marcel Hossa. We traded Nigel Dawes and Peter Prucha, two outstanding young talents for Morris who wasn't a bad pickup but did shit for us.
Again, you may not think I care for my team at all, and we already spoke about this on IRC, but I just don't like the pickup. I'm iffy on it cause for all I know, The coach could send Lisin to hartford and have someone else play. Whether you like Lauri or not, I loved him. And from my experience chatting with other like minded Rangers fans, he was pretty well liked and played good for us.
That's all i'm going to say on the matter.
quote VulcanRaven
Let me just try to get this straight, you like Korpikoski better because you saw him play all season long whereas you've never seen Lisin play so you automatically dismiss him as being inferior? Alright, well, I'm not going to even try to understand that. Either way, it's just a swap between two guys who will never make it above the third line in their careers.
quote Kevin
Final Blade you are one of the biggest morons/ranger fans I have ever seen.
I'd also love to hear which forums you go to where you think everyone is so knowledgeable and why the hell you think hfboards is full of morons? Is it just because they disagree with all your idiotic ideas?

Lulz, there's a point early in the season where the Sens play only 4 away games in 19 games.

I'm pretty sure you don't need Kirby's quote quoting the last 5 posts on the last thread. You could have just quoted them separately.
Kevin, I ended the conversation with my last comment. So I'm not going to continue it. But what I don't understand is why I can't have my view on pickups and you guys claiming to be know it alls. Cause from my view, neither of you and me are more knowledgeable than the other. In the end, it's our opinion. I just don't think it's a good swap of players.GS: It was just a typo, all posts were separate but a quote tag was missing. This message was edited by goldensteelix(moderator) on Jul 16 2009.

Yeah... it's not strictly opinion. The beauty of sports is you can quite often turn to stats to support claims of certain players being better than others. Of course, there's more to it than that, but it's a good start. So let's see, comparing Lisin and Korpikoski's 2008-09 campaign... Korpikoski had 14 points in 68 games compared to Lisin's 21 points in 48 games. Almost double the points in 20 fewer games. Well, alright, maybe Korpikoski was focusing more on a defensive role within the team. Oops, his -10 rating shows he didn't do a very good job at that either. Maybe he brought a lot of intangibles to the team, perhaps, that I must have missed since I don't watch the Rags play. Although it's hard to imagine a fourth liner could make a huge impact on the morale of a team. Oh well. You're more knowledgeable than me though, so what do I even know?

Sorry, I forgot it's more important to comprise a team filled with likable players rather than talented players. I won't make that mistake again.

Bruins vs. Flyers in the Winter Classic. Glad to see an Original Six team involved and the Flyers are one of the few non-Original Six teams to have a considerable fanbase but I'm getting real tired of the American Hockey League.

Lauri Korpikoski was/is a huge energy guy known for his bonecrushing hits and big fights. He really boosts his team.

I'm p*ssed at NBC over this matchup. No doubt it'll be good but they put ratings ahead of everything else, if NBC hadn't lobbied hard for Philly it would've been Washington going to Fenway.

Um, of course the y can. FB's been acting like the Rags just lost their captain, hence why I said huge (ie. Yzerman-type) morale impact on the team. Obviously every player contributes something to the team, but I have yet to ever see any fourth-liners who are untouchable because they bring so much to the table, or at least nothing that can't be replaced by another fourth-liner who scores even more points while doing the same thing. Maybe if you actually do some reading in this thread you won't be so out of the loop.

My biggest complaint about next year's schedule: No Caps-Pens until JANUARY. I have to keep it held in until January 21!
