You're kidding, right? You cannot use the Yankees as a benchmark because, HELLO, everyone has been losing to them since the All Star break. Duh! The Rays are 9.5 games behind the wild card leader, Boston. That means that the lead between Boston and Tampa Bay is actually...wait for it...slightly larger than the one between the Yankees and the Sox.

Saying that Boston is not better than Tampa Bay is like saying the Yanks are not better than Boston now.

Ryancola was, and so was I. That's the point. Everyone in this forum, with the possibility of YOU, knew that the Sox would open a larger lead up as the season wore on. At the time of your rather Final Blade'esque declaration that the Rays were a better team, though, the Sox still had, what, a 6 game lead?

Give it a rest. You were wrong then, and as the season continues, and the Sox continue to open up more and more of a lead, which WILL HAPPEN, you will become even more wrong.

Now, I realize that right and wrong is a binary state (like yes/no and on/off) and that technically you are either one or the other, and not in degrees or shades of grey. But in your case, I am prepared to suspend the laws of mathematics and physics and say that you become more and more wrong every hour of every day.

<sub>Chiro, I want to make something very clear: When I made my initial comment to RYANCOLA, not CHIRO, RYANCOLA, I was making a point that the 6 games lead, THEN, didn't mean the SOX were better or superior. But, with that said, considering they've built an extra 4 wins thanks to the yankees, one could say they have a very sizeable lead. But considering there's like 22 games left, Anything can happen, but at the rate things are going NOW it seems unlikely the rays could catch up and beat them.

Now the rays bullpen hasn't been good and the sox still, last time I checked, had some injuries to some of their players. Now, I never once denied in this thread, in fact I even stated it, that the Sox will no doubt play the remaining games hard and tough but I also said I do NOT believe they'll make it into the playoffs. And that could very well happen.

See, I still think you didn't properly understand my post. I never said a 6 game lead wasn't impressive or anything just they still, to me, are NOT at all better than the Rays. They're not the team they were last year or year before. They had injuries that costed them in games not only with the yankees but others. Johnathan Papalbon is hardly being himself this year, so there's many variables WHY I don't really think they're that dominating or good thing year. I mean it's the sox, of course they're going to make an effort in September, I even said that 10 pages or so ago during august when I said it could be make or break for either yanks or sox, which seems unlikely right now with the former.

Those stats didn't mean much and nothing you or anyone says here will change my view on why I think the sox aren't that great.</sub>

Hawk, I understand why you misunderstood me, but read my posts again. I was NOT talking about this knowledge from the beginning of the season. I was responding to Final Blade who said that the Sox were no better than Rays while The Sox already had a 6 game lead. Of course, most people in the forum expected good things from the Rays back in April, May, and even June. But by the time I FIRST responded to FB, the Rays had already started to fall apart. No, I was not suggesting that I knew this was coming from the beginning of the season.

Final Blade, I will get around to responding to your incomprehinsible gibbering if and when the mood strikes me, and I feel a touch of self-loathing masochism intermingled with a desire to wade hip-deep (yet again) into the magical and bizarro world that is your posts.

Alex Rodriguez is not one of the best defensive third baseman in the game. There are a number of guys that are in a whole 'nother league, mainly Adrian Beltre and Evan Longoria.

As for A Rod vs Pujols; You'd be hard-pressed to find many non-Yankees fans that would rather have Rodriguez.

That's why it's called their 'seasonal average'. It's a composite average of their entire careers, respectively. How is that too complicated for you?

Check the stats. There is a significant decrease in power numbers on the road. Their home runs, OBP, and SLG are all down on the road, thus proving my point.

Another one who likes to change his original words. You said, "I'll give the Yankees the edge offense, but take a look at their splits at home and on the road. How impressive can 20 home runs really be when you're only hitting .260?". You are clearly implying that the Yankee's batting averages are inflated by their home ball park, which I proved you wrong in. Stats clearly show that the Yankee's batting averages are WAY better on the road than at home. So your point is invalid, don't try to change your point.

I still don't understand your definition of a MUCH BETTER OVERALL hitter. What, because he puts up 10 more hits than Arod each year? That doesn't make him a much better hitter. Arod still beats him when it comes to homeruns, rbis, and stolen bases.

I never admitted such a thing. I'd still take the Yankees pitching over the Cardinal's any day. However, the Cardinals are alot closer to the Yankees when it comes to pitching than hitting, which is why I didn't mention the pitching in my last post.

As for the bullpen, Yankees clearly have the advantage.
